Position Summary

The Machinist Trainee will receive on the job training from experienced Machinist to learn the Machinist trade.

Duties & Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL

  • Follow instructions of other machinists.

  • Load Unload parts in machines.

  • Deburr and clean machined parts.

  • Operate saw as required.

  • Perform basic inspection measurements using tools provided by company.

  • Display the ability to learn and advance.

  • Able to work day and night shifts as required.

Qualifications

REQUIRED

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Basic math skills.

  • Basic computer skills.

  • Reliable transportation.

  • Must be a US Citizen.

  • Must pass background and drug screening.

DESIRED

  • One to three years formal training (vocation or technical school).

  • Ability to use basic machinist's tools for machine setup and inspection.

  • Familiar with Machine Shop Safety.

Working Conditions

This position is considered SHOP/INDOORS which is characterized as follows.

  • Frequently working on or near moving equipment and vibrating equipment.

  • Noise is over 85 decibels.

  • Frequent exposure to airborne dust, fumes, and gases.

  • Includes exposure to contaminants.

  • Includes exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable.

  • Job tasks are performed in close physical proximity to other people.

OCCASIONAL

  • Lift 20-50 pounds.

  • Work in confined spaces, kneel, jump, run, work while lying on stomach/back, crawl, and use repetitive movements of the arms and hands.

  • Identify color differences.

  • Wear PPE for skin protection.

FREQUENT

  • Lift 10-25 pounds.

  • Climb stairs/ladders, stand, balance, stoop, squat, reach, and lift/carry objects.

  • Twist body, sit with back supported, head forward/flexed, head tilted/rotated, and work with arms extended overhead.

  • Operate a motor vehicle.

CONSTANT

  • Lift up to 10 pounds.

  • Wear PPE protection for body, vision, and hearing protection.

Position Summary The First Class Machinist must be able to read and work from blue prints, as well as program, set up and operate all conventional and CNC lathes and mills. Duties & Responsibilities ESSENTIAL * Decipher information from blue prints and drawings in order to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to efficiently machine parts. * Write and install programs using Master Cam from blueprints and drawings. * Design fixtures, tooling, and parts to meet machining requirements. * Measure and examine completed parts to ensure conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments. * Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on machine shop equipment. * Operate and rig material handling equipment (overhead cranes, gantries, fork lifts). * May train and support entry level Machinists. ADDITIONAL * Additional duties as assigned. Qualifications REQUIRED * High school diploma or equivalent, plus one to three years formal training (vocation or technical school), OR Associate's Degree in related field. * Ten years previous experience in a machine shop and five years CNC machine operation. * Must have own basic machinist's tools for machine setup and inspection. * Strong familiarity with Machine Shop Safety and OSHA requirements. * Ability to program, set up, and operate all conventional and CNC lathes and mills. * High proficiency in blueprint reading and machining techniques. * Knowledgeable in various CNC programming systems(in particular Master Cam). * In depth knowledge in the operation of conventional and CNC machine shop equipment.
