PURPOSE: Primarily a support role running multiple pieces of toolroom equipment to make parts to print.

JOB DESCRIPTION (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES):

  • Machine prototype metal and plastic parts for product development teams

  • Fabricate holding fixtures used for machining prototype parts

  • Offer manufacturability suggestions for prototype parts as they are being produced

  • Suggest cost reductions and quality improvements on new part designs

  • Rework alpha and beta parts as needed when design changes

  • Assist in bringing on new technologies to improve the way prototypes are made

  • Other assignments as assigned by the supervisor

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Minimum of 5 years of varied machining experience

  • Ability to safely run CNC Milling and Turning machines

  • Ability to sketch and make holding fixtures for machining low volume metal and plastic parts

  • Ability to use measuring devices such as micrometers and calipers to dimensionally check parts

  • Familiarity with CAD software and a willing desire to automate the machining process where applicable

  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team

  • Ability to handle a variety of assignments and constantly changing priorities

  • Ability to work irregular shifts as required

The position duties include sample preparation of materials for testing to aerospace specifications and procedures. The Machinist must maintain high quality work with attention to detail while ensuring personal productivity, and efficiency. Good communication skills are required, along with a strong work ethic, and positive attitude. The successful candidate will thrive in a high volume, fast paced environment.
