Job Description

A Machinist is responsible for completing the following duties:

  • Processing raw materials into machined parts as required for production jobs

  • Producing standard and custom parts according to drawings and given schedule

  • Setting up and operating machinery such as Press Brake, Shear, Ironworker, Band Saw, Drill Press, Turning Lathe, Horizontal Mill, and other machines as required

  • Knowledge of set up and operation requirements of CNC machine tools (vertical and horizontal mills, conventional lathes and vertical lathes) a plus

  • Understanding machine capacities

  • Ensuring proper machine adjustments and maintenance

  • Laying out raw materials for minimal drop

  • Making sure drop material is picked up and in its proper location

  • Following all safety protocol when operating machinery

  • Other duties as assigned

Shift: 7:00am

  • 5:30pm Monday- Thursday | 7:00am

  • 3:30pm Friday

Qualifications

  • Minimum requirements: Machine Tool Technology certificate of equivalent or 3-5 years of machining experience

  • Ability to complete tasks according to planned schedule

Preferred Skills

  • Ability to read 1/8" , 1/16", and 1/32" gradations

  • Understand conversion of inches/decimals (using conversion chart)

  • Ability to read blueprints

  • Understanding of how to use and read micrometers, dial caliper and veneer calipers

  • Understanding of dimensions and sizing of common structural steel

  • Ability to differentiate between various grades and types of steel

  • Understanding of machine load limits and machine maintenance
