Reports To: Machining Supervisor/ Lead Machinist

JOB SUMMARY:

Manual Bridgeport Operator

Machinists make or modify metal parts that are required on the product assembly lines, using machine tools. Machinists follow drawings and rely on experience to produce parts according to specification. Machinists develop solutions to a variety of complex machining requirements.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES include:

. Performs drilling tapping and milling on manual mills.

  • Works safely at all times.

  • Identifies and uses proper tools and gauging.

  • Applies knowledge of geometry and trigonometry as applicable to machining.

  • Demonstrates understanding of machining applications as they pertain to different materials.

  • Completes machining/speed cell work as needed to meet business requirements. Plans proper sequence of operations.

  • Supports rework requirements for the assembly operation in a timely manner.

  • Utilizes and has familiarity referencing the machinist handbook

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimal requirements for education, knowledge and experience:

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Machining on-the-job experience and/or certification from appropriate vocational school.

  • Demonstrates ability to read and understand blueprints.

  • Demonstrates ability to follow basic verbal and/or written instructions.

  • Demonstrates critical thinking and problem solving skills.

  • Ability to work in a team environment, which includes communicating effectively with team members and support staff, being self-motivated, accepting responsibility for one's own work, and actively participating as a team member in a proactive manner.

This position requires the ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities in the following environment:

  • Work schedule generally consists of 40 hours per week, which may include on-call status, evenings, and/or weekends.

  • Ability to regularly lift/ maneuver up to 50 lbs.

VIEW JOBS 4/28/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-07-27T00:00 JOB SUMMARY (the purpose and general nature of the job): Safely and effectively setup and operate Vertical, Horizontal, or Pallet CNC Milling machines, manufacturing precision hardware from blueprints and existing programs. PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES include, but not limited to, the following: Complete all setups and efficiently run moderate to very complex parts on CNC Mills following detailed setup instructions. Demonstrate the ability to shuttle pallets while running large variety of part mix Multiple machine operation Must consistently demonstrate the ability to meet critical engineering specifications as shown on engineering prints. Must be capable of interpreting complex engineering drawings. Demonstrate the ability to identify processes improvements and incorporate necessary changes. * Must be capable of developing well documented setup sheets, tool lists and other associated documentation necessary for efficient manufacturing of machined parts. Communicate with Manufacturing Management Staff and Machinists for shift change over and process requirements. Perform routine PM on machines (I.E. grease, oil, coolant, filters). KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS: Minimal requirements for education, knowledge and experience: High School graduate or equivalent. Minimum of 5+ years' experience setting up and operating CNC Mills, machining various types of materials. Strong math skills. Must be able to read and understand machine programs Display strong communication skills and be capable of working from verbal and/or written instructions with minimum supervision. The individual must perform his/her duties in conjunction with EHS personnel, in such a manner that neither he nor others are jeopardized in regards to safety. PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS: This position requires the ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities in the following environment: Individual must be capable of occasionally lifting 50lbs and standing for extended periods of time and capable of climbing stairs. Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including eye protection, hearing protection, hand and foot protection or other specific PPE as required. Work with or around various oils, coolants and other common machine shop chemicals. Must be able to speak English and work in team environment.
