Work includes assignment planning, layout, set up, operating and making tool adjustments for various types of manual, numerically controlled and computerized machine shop equipment. May communicate directly with engineers to understand the purpose of a part assembly.
Works from blueprints, process sheets and sketches to perform production tasks, which may include the cutting and shaping of metal to precision dimensions.
Checks and inspects machining operations against specified tolerances.
May identify and repair minor machine malfunctions.
Other Specific Functions or Duties:
May give work direction and assist with machine set-up for Machinist levels 1-3 as required.
Performs heat treating, finishing, grinding, honing, brazing, and mechanical assembly operations as required.
Maintains personal tool box, tools and measuring equipment necessary to adequately perform duties.
Core hours of operation are 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM Monday through Friday.
4 years of concentrated machinist training.
Able to read and interpret engineering drawings.
Demonstrated job planning abilities and knowledge of mathematics through trigonometry.
Understands how to work with a variety of materials.
Proficient in utilizing business tools such as: E-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Experience with SAP or equivalent ERP product and productivity software desired.
