The Role Sets up and operates basic, special purpose, grinding and numerical control (NC) machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts. Supports activities in the manufacturing environment such as deburring, painting and assembling components.   • Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.

  • Starts and observes machine operation on machines such as mills, lathes, jig bores, grinders, & shapers. Works with lead and trainer for setup requirements.

  • Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications.

  • Identifies continuous improvement projects for cost, quality, and lead-time improvements, and communicate to leadership as applicable.

  • Seeks out opportunities to learn about all areas of the shop floor and enthusiastically pursues ongoing self-development in leadership and technical skills that will enhance and continually improve products, processes, and people with a Focus on the Customer.

  • Identifies & escalates issues to lead and/or trainer for timely resolution, including malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining.

  • Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining.

  • Selects, aligns, & secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, materials, attachments, & accessories on machines such as mills, lathes, jig bores, grinders, & shapers.

  • Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data. Adjusts machine controls or control media, as required.

  • Identifies & escalates issues to Lead, and as applicable, confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve.

  • Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.

  • Training of machinists on products, processes, and/or equipment in alignment with the applicable training programs.

  • Delegated Inspection (DI) to verify conformance in conformance of authorized products with applicable quality procedures. Compensation details: 28-32.7 Hourly Wage PI89e1bfa0cb09-37156-36993674
