Who We Are……

McWane Inc. has a newly created division, McWane Plant and Industrial (MPI). This new division, based in Birmingham, AL, combines all Plant and Industrial Products in a single customer-focused package. We offer comprehensive solutions through an experienced team of professionals specifically focused on these two special markets. Our Mission is to be the Plant and Industrial supplier who is "easiest to do business with". We will make it easier to engineer, specify, and order components for plants. We will provide greater support for smoother delivery, cost-effective installation, and start-up. Most importantly, we will build strong relationships with design engineers, contractors, plant operations teams, and project owners to assure we are their first-choice supplier for both new construction and future upgrades.

Second Shift Machining Supervisor

Shift Hours

Second Shift: Monday

• Thursday 2:00p.m.

• 12:30a.m.

Calera, AL

Plant Superintendent

Responsibilities

Description:

Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the machining operations for the second shift. This includes effectively managing the people on their shift, maintaining a safe and productive environment, ensuring parts are made in a timely manner and to specification. The shift supervisor will understand and be able to change or adapt any CNC programs as needed. The shift supervisor will assist with making parts, help train, and grow their team. The shift supervisor will be an excellent communicator who can get clear instructions from the day shift and provide clear updates for the following day so parts can transition from day to night and back effectively. Many of the parts require multi shift work so hand off is essential

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• Must have at least 10 years of CNC machining experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent or relevant experience

• 2-to-5-year minimum supervisory experience

• Must have excellent communication and organizational skills.

• Ability to multi-task and prioritize.

• Must have a strong work ethic, initiative, and have attention to detail.

• Ensuring personal safety and the safety of your team members.

• Assists supervisors and managers in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.

• Wears appropriate PPE which may include fall protection, respiratory protection, hearing protection, foot, hand, head and eye protection.

• Responsible for cleanliness of the assigned work area as well as maintaining a safe and clean work environment.

• Proactively promotes the McWane Way principles.

• Standing and sitting for long periods of time.

• Attention to detail

• Oversees the day-to-day functions supporting the operation

• Proactively promotes The McWane Way principles

• Effectively communicates and translates safety standards to employees to ensure clarity is reached throughout the department

• Confers and collaborates with other supervisors and managers to ensure seamless communication and effective transition of products and activities

• Maintains time and production records

• Ensures quality processes are in place and effective

• Addresses complaints and resolves problems

• Inspects materials and signs of an all-part inspections

• Ensures production packets are planned, released, and printed to the required department

• Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties

• Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals

• Must ensure parts are readily available for the machines as needed

Work Environment:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls.

• The employee frequently is required to talk and hear and occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

• Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus and determine and distinguish color.
