In the role of Machinery Engineer with Atlas Copco Mafi-Trench company you will work with a multidisciplinary engineering team on a wide variety of technical challenges. Working on cutting-edge technology and innovation, you'll have a strong desire to obtain experience in the aerodynamic design of turbine wheels/blades and rotor dynamics of high-speed shaft/bearing systems. ACMTC is a custom, build-to-order environment where you'll need to have a natural curiosity and genuine interest in new technologies and are flexible with ideas and abstract concepts, able to self-learn/self-develop.

The compensation for range for this position is $87,356 to $114,174 annually. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus. What you will own & improve:

  • Analyze and Design Turboexpanders to create a custom product for each customer.

  • Continually Improve product performance, quality, and value as well as the design process.

  • Maintain up-to-date documentation on all responsible projects.

  • Observe and participate in the build and test of the parts you've designed in our onsite manufacturing facility.

  • You have excellent interpersonal skills. You communicate well with others, have the ability to self-start, have a positive make-it-happen attitude, and are a team player.

  • You are creative and can refine ideas through open-minded collaboration with colleagues and customers.

  • You are curious and want to understand why something works the way it does.

  • You are an active promotor of collaboration, able to identify needs and act with minimal supervision. You take complex issues and break them down into simple actionable steps - providing effective solutions.

  • You know that failure is a first attempt in learning and demonstrate the ability to self-correct and self-improve.

  • You are able to hear customer needs and translate them into functional requirements.

  • You are proficient in Solidworks, CAD/CAE, 2D or 3D modeling.

  • You understand or are interested in the principles of Computational Fluid Dynamics, Finite Element Analysis, and Rotor Dynamics.

  • Understand the thermodynamic process of expansion and compression.

  • You have a BS in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, or a similar field.

What you will learn (if you don't know already):

  • You'll learn how to design a Turboexpander.

  • You'll learn how to manufacture a Turboexpander.

  • You'll learn how to document the analysis and design process for each machine.

  • You'll learn how to update and improve the design guide.

  • You'll learn how to communicate with customers and members of your project team.

How Success is Measured:

  • Successful design and test of a Turboexpander with assistance from a senior-level designer.

  • Understanding of the concept to product process.

  • Improvements adopted by the engineering team.

  • Understanding of the science behind the function of the Turboexpander.

About the Team:

This role reports to the Core Engineering Manager and will work and collaborate as an integral part of a team with diverse technical backgrounds, a wealth of knowledge and specialty, and with co-workers averaging 20+ years' experience resulting in collaborative discussions and innovation.
