SummaryThe Technical Specialist can perform any task in specialized work areas, and operates under minimal or no supervision in a mechanical craft area or specialized process area. The Technical Specialist sets up, runs, performs specialized tasks such as programming and performs minor maintenance of all specialized equipment, as well as covers such positions as free-flowing extrusion operations, welding, prototype areas, CNC operations where extremely high level of fixture changes or set-ups occur or where the nature of the operation is prototype oriented and any other highly specialized process or craft area. The Technical Specialist also makes sure production oriented tasks, such as welding, the quality, service orientation and productivity is consistently meeting the company's mission statement expectations.
Uses own judgement to adjust and/or set-up a machine/manufacturing process producing a quality part in a timely manner
Is familiar with and uses dispatch list at floor management direction
Responsible for training and/or monitoring MO-1's, MO-2's and MO-3's at floor management direction
Possesses highest level of flexibility, skill and experience operating a variety of machine and or manufacturing processes
Communicates and works effectively as a team member across functions
Cross-trains and assists co-workers in cross-training
Performs specialized work tasks per work instructions and/or blueprints.
Performs disciplined specialized systematic methods of handling materials or tools or process
Reviews work instructions and blueprints to determine job specifications, machine adjustments, and material
Plans, improvises or independently determines methods for insuring high degree of customer satisfaction
Assures responsiveness to internal/external customers is at the highest operating level
Correlates work with shop schedule
Works at highest safety focused level
Responsibility for guiding and training others
Extreme resource conscientiousness with regard to company machine tools, fixtures, dies, materials and equipment
Documents work using manufacturing system
Updates documentation or drawings and interfaces between quality, shop and engineering
Assists in troubleshooting or troubleshoots problems in work area systems, processes, or machines
Measures, marks and scribes metal stock for machining and/or set-up
Sets up work center based on work packet requirements
Operates machine tools and examines standards or previously used dies, tools and jigs for construction and function of parts
Ensures wastes are disposed of properly and that scrap is minimized
Trains and cross-trains operators on any specialized work area equipment and secondary operations
Uses dial calipers, snap gauges or micrometers
Performs machine maintenance such as oiling machines, dies, or work pieces per work instructions
Stacks, marks, packs, and transports finished work pieces
Other duties may be assigned
Basic Qualifications- High school graduate or GED
2+ years of experience on all technical work area equipment, process and related work area equipment
Specialized work area equipment or process experience on all ORMOND BEACH FACILITY work area equipment or
company product and secondary equipment or process
Manual dexterity and mechanically inclined
Capable of training co-workers
Ability to follow quality plans and work instructions
Ability to uses a variety of common machine tools and gauges, calipers, etc.
Ability to read blueprints
Ability to lift up to 100 pounds
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures
Ability to write simple correspondence
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Ability to interpret more extensive technical instructions in diagram form and deal with more abstract and concrete
Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms
Ability to stand, walk, sit, communicate and occasionally to stoop, kneel, or crouch
Visual abilities required may include close vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
The employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts, works in outside air weather conditions, and is occasionally
exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; The work may involve non-toxic and/or toxic fumes, chemicals, airborne
particles, vibration and heat; the noise level in the work environment may frequently be loud and hearing protection may
be required based on the work area and noise level
High school graduate or GED required. Requires a minimum of two years of experience on all technical work area equipment, process and related work area equipment.
Specialized work area equipment or process experience on industrial machines for assigned area. Manual dexterity and mechanically inclined. Capable of training co-workers. Able to follow quality plans and work instructions. Uses a variety of common machine tools and gauges, calipers, etc. Reads blueprints.
