The machine operator position operates machine shop and mold press in assembly process under supervision and direction of production supervisor.


  • Performs typical machine shop and mold press operations to support the assembly floor.

  • Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.

  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.

  • Performs prescribed preventative maintenance on machines as required per the P.M. charts.

  • Must be able to perform but not limited to the following tasks: milling, turning, drilling, taping, de-burring, molding and all bench operations and inspect.

  • Must be familiar with the basic machine functions in order to perform the tasks stated above.

  • Must be willing to accept and receive frequent supervision and assistance with regard to machine set-up.


  • Required to use power hand tools

  • Required to drive a forklift

  • Ability to work effectively to meet deadlines

  • Ability to work with a diversified work force

  • Ability to read different measuring devices (i.e. tape measure, protractor, micometer).


  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Minimum of 1 year of factory-related experience.

VIEW JOBS 4/10/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-07-09T00:00 Job Description Summary Sets up and operates the cold pilger mill to reduce the pipe outside diameter and wall size while increasing length. Essential Functions * Operates cold Pilger mill in accordance with manufacturer's and SXP instructions. * Documents production requirements using the INFO SOFTWARE system. * Loads and unloads Pilger mill using overhead crane and/or forklift. * Reads production orders to determine specific reduction requirements. * Monitors operation of equipment to determine when maintenance is required. * Inspects product to determine whether equipment is functioning properly. * Change dies, mandrels, mandrel rods, guides, jaws, according to size needed. * Marking pipe to maintain identity. * Clean lubricant from pipe surfaces. * Measure length and cut according to the cutting instructions. * Visually inspect pipe surface to determine that tooling, lubricant, and the machine meets SXP standards. * Follows all SXP and other regulatory safety requirements. * Ability to make precision measurements of pipe O.D., wall, I.D., and length using measuring tools such an O.D. micrometer, wall micrometer, I.D. micrometer, and pi tape. * Ability to record measurements on control chart documents. Additional Responsibilities Must understand and follow requirements of SXP QMS and EHS system. Qualifications Education and Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; previous manufacturing experience and/or training preferred.
