I. Job Summary

The Machine Operator-CNC is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, as well as base repair and maintenance of computer-controlled systems and robotic devices used within the production facilities. The position would require working knowledge of electronics, mechanics, and computer systems.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop a comprehensive knowledge of general safety protocol and procedures as it relates to operation of automation equipment and function in the production environment.

  • Serve as lead operator on advanced equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation is continuous.

  • Diagnose, repair, maintain, and configure various types of computer automated equipment as needed.

  • Perform equipment failure analysis, repair, and schedule preventative maintenance on robotic and automated equipment.

  • Be able to critically think and solve problems, having a detail-oriented outlook to follow complex instructions.

  • Have minor programming experience / background to assist with troubleshooting.

  • Implement and / or integrate changes necessary to maintain or increase efficiency.

  • Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.

  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.

  • Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

  • Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces; adhering to international standards.

III. Skills and Qualifications

Conceptual Skills, Process Improvement, Verbal Communication, Functional and Technical Skills, Controls and Instrumentation, Supply Management, Tooling, Coordination, Inventory Control, Attention to Detail, Judgment.

  • Must be able to pass background check and drug screening.

  • Significant hands-on experience working on a production floor.

  • Able to successfully set up, pre-program, and run production.

  • Solid necessary math skills, including measuring and keeping count records.

  • Able to read and follow technical drawings and diagrammed instructions.

  • Proven record of quality, on-time production runs.

  • Significant knowledge of automated machine operation and maintenance.

  • Able to perform physically demanding work, standing, bending, lifting 25 lbs. regularly.

  • Positive attitude, reliable, and a team player.

  • Good communication skills, written and verbal.

  • Solid computer skills.

  • Competent in fine tuning of software and carry out the metrics and mathematical conversions required to obtain desired and specified final product quality.

  • Inspect production parts after completion for accurate measurements of all dimensions.

  • Ensure machine is properly lubricated before each process initiation.

  • Adjust and operate machines in complete accordance with given blueprints and templates.

  • Verify machine settings and program control data for accuracy.

  • Train new employees in machine operation.

  • Assist other operators with troubleshooting and problem solving.

  • Assist with process development and improvement.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in an automation or computer engineering based degree program preferred.

  • Prior manufacturing experience is a plus

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel

  • Knowledge of logic platform and operations.
