Job Description:

MACHINIST I

Role Summary/Purpose:

The Machinist I will be responsible to perform basic operation of machine tools to produce/fabricate precision parts. Applies basic knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures. Ensures conformance to specifications and continues production consistent with established procedures.

Essential Responsibilities:

Machine parts to specifications using tools such as lathes, drill press, VTL and milling machines.
Read blueprints, drawings, specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work.
Perform dimensional layout on all machined parts to confirm conformity to prints and other routing instructions. Ensure applicable documentation is complete ie sign off on job routers, SIS (Source Inspections Sheets) etc, and computer entry.
Advanced knowledge of precision measuring tools such as dial and vernier calipers, depth mics, ball mics, etc.
Identify multiple surface finishes.
Deburr and stamp parts to specifications.
Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, jaw attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.
Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining/threading process. Watch gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
Able to maintain a clean work area to include emptying waste container, used oil, sweeping chips, replace broken pallets.
Able to read job router and determine product to be produced, instructions, specifications, actual machining time, quantities, etc.
Observes and follows proper procedures for powering on/off machine.
Able to adjust machine offsets ie wear, geometry, cutter comp, workshift, etc.
Observe all PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and all safety rules/requirements such as machining guards, lifting techniques, slips and falls prevention, etc.


Qualifications/Requirements:
High School Diploma / GED from an accredited school or institution or Vocational Technical Training Certificate
Minimum 6 months of manual machining experience
Eligibility

Requirements:
Willingness and ability to lift up to 40 lbs
Ability and willingness to work overtime, weekends and holidays, as required.
Ability and willingness to work in a constant pushing, pulling, lifting, stretching, bending and other physical activities.
Desired Characteristics:
Certification to operate a forklift, pallet jack and crane
Vo Tech Certificate
Knowledge in the following areas: Valve, Wellhead, Oilfield assemblies and parts.
Ability to read and understand instructions; quality control; and safety.
Effective verbal, written communications skills.
Basic math and computer skills.
Ability to read, evaluate and respond to product specifications and drawings.
Familiar and comfortable with various types of metal cutting machinery (mechanically inclined).

VIEW JOBS 11/4/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-02T00:00 COMPUTER OPERATOR III (CCAD-18-1857-F): Bowhead seeks a Temporary Computer Operator III who is responsible for leading employees who monitor and control a computer by operating the central console or on-line terminals. In addition to operating the system and resolving common error conditions, this individual diagnoses and acts on machine stoppage and error conditions not fully covered by existing procedures and guidelines (e.g., resetting switches and other controls or making mechanical adjustments to maintain or restore equipment operations). In response to computer output instructions or error conditions, the employees in this role may deviate from standard procedures if standard procedures do not provide a solution and refers problems which do not respond to corrective procedures to a person of supervisory or higher individual contributor level Essential functions to include: * Shall continuously observe the operation of the console panel, storage devices, printers, and the action of the console printer to monitor the system and determine the point of job steps to continue operations when individual units of the system malfunction. * Ability to manipulate controls to rearrange sequence of job steps to continue operations in the event that individual units of the system malfunction. * Must possess a strong desire to provide excellent customer service solutions and interact with coworkers and clients in a courteous and professional manner. * Perform other duties as assigned Requirements• High school diploma or GED required. * Minimum of two years direct related experience in the subject matter area. Supervisory experience highly desired. * Information System Security Level III certification is required, refer to DoD Directive 8570.1 IAT – Level III certification prerequisites. * Must be proficient in reading, writing and speaking effectively in English. * Comprehensive computer/PC knowledge required including; spreadsheet software, word processing software and knowledge of MS Office Suite. * Valid driver's license, current vehicle registration and certificate of insurance is required for privately owned vehicles seeking permission to access Corpus Christi Army Depot. SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED: Individual must be capable of obtaining and maintaining a favorable security clearance. Current Security Clearance / favorable NACI highly desired. Ability to access and successfully maintain access to government / military installations is a requirement of this position.
