Periphery Grind Set-up/Operator

Orwell, Ohio

Summary

The Periphery Grind Set-up/Operator will run multiple periphery grinding machines producing a quality product to blueprint specifications.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate any or all of the following machines: Waida, Wendt, Myford and chipbreaker.

  • Orient inserts before grinding.

  • Load and off-load inserts from multiple grinding machines.

  • Gage inserts to insure proper dimensions.

  • Scope inserts to verify visual characteristics.

  • Pull samples and Record inspection results on route cart.

  • Place inserts into appropriate racks after grinding.

  • Separate scrap from good inserts document accurately.

  • Scan correct production information.

  • Maintain tooling used in machines, resurfacing as needed.

  • Operate other equipment as needed. Rod inserts as required.

  • Train new operators when required.

  • Operators required to trouble shooting moderate to complex problems.

  • Commitment to working safely and understand all safety procedures.

  • Deviations in routine are handled according to operating procedures and/or work instructions. Operator responsible for following inspection control plan, assuring product is processed according to proper routings, specifications and that the quantity and style are correct.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Able to do basic and complex math including metric conversions, geometry and trigonometry.

  • Able to read and understand defect criteria in Kennametal intranet, insert identification, blueprints, routings and operating procedures.

  • Is able to handle inserts with fingers without chipping.

  • Read blueprints to determine dimensions to be held while grinding periphery and must be able to locate documents in QMS.

  • Understand proper use of gages, varies optical gauging equipment standard micrometers, Keyence, Digimatic Indicators, 30X Microscope, "V" anvil micrometers, and Hole Micrometers to measure the characteristics being ground to meet the blueprint specifications.

  • Ability to use a personal computer and various software such as SAP MII, locate information in QMS, and on the Kennametal Intranet for Edge Prep, ISO Procedures, and work instructions.

  • Communicate with set-up persons, inspectors, supervisors, and managers.

  • Proficiency reached in nine (9) months or less.

  • Must complete classes in blueprint reading, SPC training, and insert ID within 6 months or less within starting the position.

Education and Experience

  • Must have High School diploma or GED.
  • 3 5 years relevant experience

Learn more at www.kennametal.com. Sintering Furnace Operator Orwell, Ohio Job Summary The Sintering Furnace Operator will load, unload, and operate sintering furnaces. Key Job Responsibilities Load/unload, start/stop and operate sintering furnaces. Remove sintered heats from the furnaces. Follow established procedures for running and checking furnaces to ensure all systems are operating correctly. Remove Quality Control lab tests and place in proper envelopes. Remove box tests and deliver to the appropriate focus factory. Pull samples and record inspection results. Deliver the sintered heats to the separators and replace empty furnace slabs in sinter set-up. Maintain heats' printer and file reports in file cabinets. Scan in correct information. Perform routine furnace maintenance. May assist with sinter set up, separate, and other related duties as needed. Key Job Accountabilities Commitment to working safely and understand all safety procedures. Furnaces run to a set procedure changed in writing by technology or management. Incumbents responsible for making changes, putting in the correct programs, and following the written procedures ensuring error free operation. Deviations in routine are handled according to operating procedures and/or work instructions. Operator responsible for following inspection control plan, assuring product is processed according to proper routings, specifications and the quantity and style are correct. Work to meet daily departmental production goals. Communicate safety , quality and product issues with supervisor, team members and across shifts. Knowledge and Skills Able to do basic math. Able to view and adjust sintering programs on the microprocessor. Ability to understand technical operation procedures and comprehend how they affect each furnace. Ability to operate hydraulic fork lift for loading/unloading furnaces. Is able to handle inserts with fingers without chipping. Understands insert identification manual. Is able to read and understand operating procedures. Communicate with technology, management, maintenance, other operators, sinter set up, and sinter separators.
