CASCADES CONTAINERBOARD PACKAGING The Containerboard Packaging Group, a division of Cascades, is the largest containerboard producer in Canada, and is also a top converter of corrugated products in the country. The Group manufactures a wide range of products made from recycled fibres for its North American customers in the food, beverage and consumer products sectors, among many others. The Division, which employs close to 3,400 people, owns six containerboard mills and nineteen corrugated products plants in Canada and the United States. Your challenge! As the Production Supervisor in Succession (in training), you will have a diverse work load in support of the manufacturing needs of the plant. The successful candidate will collaborate with other departments to assess the plants processes and use their critical thinking skills to trouble-shoot any issues that arise. You will have an opportunity to expand your knowledge as each day varies and be able to contribute to the plants growth and success. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to work in a very quick paced environment, requiring adaptability, multi-tasking, and ability to manage stress, work additional hours and/or work different shifts. The production supervisor is expected to take full responsibility of the quality and the product that is produced within the shift in line with the company's processes and procedures and in accordance to ISO. Job Responsibilities Reporting to the Production Manager, the candidate will work with the production team to… * Manage and engage staff based on Cascades' values and business strategy * Drive change initiative and implement process improvements as part of a multi-functional team * Lead safety efforts for employees by identifying high-risk situations, conducting safety meetings and coordinating worker safety activities. * Accept the full responsibility that comes with this position in line with Cascades' OSH requirements. * Optimize efficiencies and drive efforts to reduce waste and downtime and increase production availability * Effectively manage human and material resources to ensure sound financial performance and achievement of manufacturing efficiency targets * Coordinate training efforts for a diverse workforce and have a working knowledge of best practices for training and development * Build a team of competent and dedicated people whose skills complement one another. * Maximize production efficiency and optimize their resources. * Prepare work schedules. * Personally commit and display strong leadership in health and safety. Education and Experience * Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Engineering, or relevant field (preferably in pulp/paper) * 2-3 years of prior supervisory experience in a manufacturing facility preferred but not required * Demonstrated leadership capabilities a must Technical competencies * Exceptional leadership, planning and organization skills. * Results-oriented and the ability to motivate a team to perform at high levels. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Must have a strong safety mindset. * Experience in troubleshooting and process improvement. * Ability to make good decisions with an innovative approach. * Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
