Wyman-Gordon Pennsylvania, a division of Precision Castparts Corporation (PCC), is a manufacturing leader of Flash Welded and Cold Rolled near net shaped rings for the Aerospace Industry. We are currently seeking a highly motivated Machine Operator for our Mountaintop facility located in Mountaintop. The Machine Operator tends fabricating machines such as flash welders, presses, forming machines, and both conventional and CNC lathes that form, weld, and size aerospace alloys from bar to ring form. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reads job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements

  • Sets stops or guides to specified parameters as indicated by scale, rule, or work instruction

  • Adjusts parameters as needed to produce product conforming to print

  • Observes machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunction

  • Measures work piece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation

  • Removes burrs and sharp edges from work piece

  • Set up machine, and stack, mark, pack and transport finished work pieces

  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one to three years related experience and/or training.

The Following skills are required:

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; ability to write simple correspondence; ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to direct supervisor, co-workers and other employees of the organization.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written and oral instructions; ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Ability to read blueprints.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands; reach with hands and arm. The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

GENERAL JOB DUTIES: * To exhibit teamwork skills and actively participate in team activities in a positive working environment. * To demonstrate problem solving skills in a work environment that is striving for continuous improvement. * Follow Company policies and display conduct expected of Amcor employees as stated in the Corporate and Local Handbook. * Adhere to all safety and health objectives, policies and procedures of Amcor to provide for a safe and healthful workplace. Work in a safe manner at all times and report any unsafe conditions to your supervisor in order that the situation can be corrected. Report all accidents and near misses in a timely manner when they occur. * Maintain proper ergonomics at all times when performing assigned tasks. * To meet and maintain all customer quality standards as well as the standards of Amcor. * Meet daily production goals and departmental objectives as directed. * Clean all assigned work areas after completion of the required work, return all tools to proper storage area at the end of the shift and report any malfunctioning equipment. This includes applying Good Manufacturing Practices to meet plant goals. Reports daily on Master Cleaning Schedule. * Direct all non-conforming parts to the appropriate reprocess area. * Maintains standard production objectives through proper machine operation and accurately records production. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Performs routine production functions necessary to operate the production, quality, and distribution equipment to meet customer specifications. * Operates Blow Molding machines, according to machine (product) standard. * Works at different work stations as production needs require. * Inspects parts per line requirements. * Performs various manual and mechanical production functions by operating, adjusting, and repairing the production equipment to meet customer specifications. * Performs record keeping duties as required under the direction of management. * Conducts inspection of in-process materials and in-process and finished products. Notifies management when product does not meet quality standards. * Identifies inefficiencies and potential mechanical problems and coordinates through supervisor to resolve. * Inputs daily production data * Completes required quality checks * Perform minor processing changes * Trials work as assigned * Line Rework * Palletize FG * Start up, stop, restart, unjam various equipment ie: Hopper, strapper, stretch wrapper, ALPS, spin trimmer, trolly, row former, divertor, conveyor, etc, Level of Authority and Authorization You have the right to hold for inspection; any product you feel does not meet customer/company specifications. * Those employees with authorized training, have the ability to shut down/stop equipment if continued operation is a threat to any employee's health and safety. * Contact any member of Management without fear of reprisal concerning questions, suggestions, or complaints regarding quality, working condition or job environment. * Authority to stop any observed unsafe practices. POSITION REQUIRMENTS Knowledge/Skills/Education * Requires high school diploma or equivalent. * Previous work experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred * Ability to read, write and understand English. * Basic computer and mathematical skills * Complete an interview process. * External Candidates: * Basic and / or advanced operation of Sidel Blow molding equipment (3 years-experience minimum with Sidel equipment / machinery. * Experience on minor mechanical repairs * Experience performing PMs * Experience performing minor troubleshooting and programming * Experience with root cause analyst and of tooling breakage/damage * Internal Candidates: * Must be trained and certified as an OP I Level III or have 2 years length of service * Must meet be able to perform the essential duties of the position * Must have less than 7 points * Must be in good standing – no current Final Warnings * Must be in current position for 6 months (New hire would be considered if no qualified co-workers have applied) * Pass entry level aptitude test with a 75% or better Level of Authority and Authorization You have the right to hold for inspection; any product you feel does not meet customer/company specifications. * Those employees with authorized training, have the ability to shut down/stop equipment if continued operation is a threat to any employee's health and safety. * Has authority to stop machines/production to communicate safety, quality, machine problems, and breakdowns to Production Lead, Supervisor or Maintenance Manager. * Contact any member of Management without fear of reprisal concerning questions, suggestions, or complaints regarding quality, working condition or job environment. * Authority to stop any observed unsafe practices.
