Set up, operate, observe and maintain one or more centerless grinding machine to produce precision parts. May be required to operate and observe thru-feed machines. Will be required to measure and inspect parts

Location: Based out of Newington, CT

Reports to: Production Supervisor

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Determine the appropriate tools and equipment needed to perform a job

Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and Vernier calipers

Read blueprints and job orders to determine product specifications and tooling instructions and plan operational sequences

Set-up and start machines, pull handles, use part fixtures, etc. or use other means to engage feeding, cooling, and lubricating mechanisms, etc.

Manually position, adjust and secure stock material or work pieces against stops, in fixtures, or automatic feeding mechanisms

Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the grinding process

Observe the machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunctions; adjust machines as necessary

Inspect work pieces for defects and measure work pieces to determine accuracy of machine operation using micrometers, gages, templates or other measuring instruments

Perform minor machine maintenance such as oiling or cleaning machines, adding coolant to machine reservoirs, etc.

Performs other related duties or responsibilities as requested or required, whether or not specifically mentioned in this job description.

Must be a "US Person" as defined by US Government and able to work without restriction with ITAR related data.

Must be able to read, write, understand, and speak English at a functional level.

Various other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Participate in training as required

5-10% Domestic Travel required

Must be able to read, write, understand, and speak English at a functional level

Physical Demands:

Must be able to lift, push, or pull at least 50 lbs.

Regularly required to sit, stand, reach, bend, and move about our facility

Work Environment:

Requirements:

High School Diploma or GED required

Troubleshoot causes of operating errors and determine appropriate actions.

Operate/monitor gauges, dials or other indicators to ensure machine is working properly.

Control Precision

  • The ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine to exact positions

Problem Sensitivity

  • The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem

Plan and perform various CNC turning and milling operations to machine a variety of metal parts under the supervision Location: Based out of Cheshire, CT Reports to: Production Supervisor Salary Grade: Essential Duties & Responsibilities Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform. Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes and milling machines Work from blueprints, engineering instructions, specifications and blueprints Measure, examine and test completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometers. Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized tools in order to perform precision machining operations Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines Select appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of machine work Position and fasten work pieces Check work pieces to ensure that they are properly lubricated and cooled Operate equipment to verify operational efficiency Clean and lubricate machines, tools, and equipment in order to remove grease, rust, stains, and foreign matter Maintain records and documents in process inspection data as required Report faulty or unusual conditions to the appropriate level of supervision Able to measure using common shop tools, machine tools, and engineered gaging to close tolerances Set-up, operate and measure machine Performs other related duties or responsibilities as requested or required, whether or not specifically mentioned in this job description.
