Description
Position Overview
The VTIS Operator is a key production function. This person is required to operate multiple machine systems and to obtain/maintain State of California license. He/She is required to operate equipment in accordance with manufactures', quality and SOP standards of CNP as well as comply with State and Federal regulations. The VTIS Operator is responsible for batching, mixing and all documentation of the product produced on his/her line while adhering to safety and GMP's. Additionally, he/she is responsible for the quantity of produced product and must be active in the maintenance of the operated equipment. Must have the ability to follow instructions to the letter and accurately report information. VTIS Operator must have the mathematical understanding to calculate percentages and adjust formulation as per batch sheet. VTIS operators must understand the process and how to maintain sterility of the product within the process. VTIS Operator must be able to maintain all temperatures/pressures and understand the differences between flash by-pass and flash chamber and the different hold tubes/plates. VTIS Operator mixes batches with exact measurements as per the batch sheet.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Know, adhere to and ensure the team adheres to all quality processes.
Demonstrates knowledge of food safety and GMP processes through compliant behavior and coaches team mates as needed.
Must be an expert at food handling safety
Know, adhere and train all CCP/Allergen processes for the VTIS/Mix blend areas
VTIS Machine operation to standards on systems 1,2,3,4, and stork system
VTIS Machine operator knowledge on systems 1,2,3,4 and stork system
Overall understanding of ingredient mixing, storage, batching and quality standards
Accurately read, interpret, and record data on charts and tables
Understand and accurately change and record critical machine parameters. Take immediate action when critical parameter is violated
Monitor all chart recorders and other check points to ensure critical parameters are not violated
Take immediate corrective action when a critical parameter is violated
Perform CIP (clean in place) on all process equipment, mix tanks, product lines, and silos
Conduct sterile parameter checks according to state inspection process
Prepare product batches to pre-determined specifications
Calculate percentages on ingredients due to changes in Brix
Conduct appropriate tests (Brix, pH, CEM, taste) on batches and document accurately on all paperwork.
Accurately fill out and maintain real time, state machine logs, and all CNP documentation. This will include stops and deviations in written formats on state log.
Use data collected to request and participate in machine/Quality constant improvement actions
Conduct production as scheduled and in compliance with CNP work orders assuring that product and batch sheets are matched
Adhere to materials FIFO (first in first out) returning product correctly and timely. Validate and accurately document material received and returned
Ability to read and interpret MSDS sheets
Ensure the area is left clean and stocked as per established standards
Adhere to GMP's. Must work in a manner supporting of CNP policies, procedures, values, and behaviours
Maintain forklift certification
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) for ingredients and batch adjustments
Ability to change from one unit of measure to another (e.g., gallons to pounds, percent to batch)
Requirements
Education and/or Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent
Knowledge of the food industry required
Have the ability to follow instructions
Past WCM or ISO experience a plus
General mechanical skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills

Additional Compensation - Bonus Potential: You will be eligible to participate in the Gehl Food & Beverage Bonus Program for non-exempt employees. Under this Program, quarterly and annual bonus payouts are based on achievement of targeted production numbers. Gehl Foods, LLC reserves the right to change the Bonus Program at anytime, without notice.
Working Conditions: Frequently exposed to wet and varying temperature conditions between 60-130 degrees Fahrenheit, loud noise, vibration, moving machinery/electrical parts, risk of electrical shock, airborne particles, high/precarious places, toxic/caustic chemicals, allergens including soy, milk and milk by-products and fumes from food processing equipment.
