The COUNTRY Financial Applied Analytics team is looking for a Data Engineer who's a highly motivated individual with experience in bringing business value through data. Be a part of a team that is working on cloud native data solutions using tools like; Docker, Spark, Python, SQL, K8S, and git. In this role you will have the opportunity to work with the business, data scientists and other data practitioners from across the organization. This is a great opportunity to work with data and learn from high performing Data Scientists from across the company.

This role establishes database management systems, standards, guidelines and quality assurance for database deliverables, such as conceptual design, logical database, capacity planning, external data interface specification, data loading plan, data maintenance plan and security policy. Researches and prototypes data pipelines, hardens POC/MVP tools and pipelines for Production and partners with predictive modelers and data scientists to deploy machine learning models into a production environment. Works closely with the Enterprise Data Warehouse team to collaborate on process patterns and best practices in the areas of adhoc analysis, research, proof of concepts and deploying working tools to production.

  • This position is part of a job family. Placement will be determined by skills and qualifications of the candidate.

Responsibilities:

  • Works with the enterprise "Community of Excellence" to develop standards and best practices for engineering for data and machine learning.

  • Develops Data Pipelines for dashboard development, machine learning models and exploratory data analysis.

  • Iteratively delivers functionality using DevOps tools and concepts, including but not limited to, Linux/Unix command line, Docker Containers, SQL (i.e. Hive), Git through the command line, Spark/PySpark and Python.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with SQL and creating data views for analysis.

  • Hands on experience with Big Data tools (Spark, Hive, etc.).

  • History of creating "production" ready code for data preparation.

  • Working knowledge of using python to wrangle data, call an API, create an API.

  • Familiarity of Machine Learning concepts.

Required Qualifications:

  • Typically requires:

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 8 years of machine learning, data engineer or related experience, OR

  • Master's degree and at least 6 years of machine learning, data engineer or related experience, OR

  • At least 10 years of machine learning, data engineer or related experience.

  • And 1 year lead experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Normal office environment.

  • Work may extend beyond normal business hours as business needs dictate.
