ABOUT THE ROLE
As the leader of the Machine Learning team, you will work within the unmanned systems engineering team on the design, development and implementation of software architecture, real-time control algorithms, artificial intelligence (AI), motion planning, computer vision and sensor processing algorithms, graphical user interfaces, and inter-process messaging for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), connected and autonomous vehicles (CAV).
Our machine learning (ML) group builds the essential tools, frameworks, and services used by the unmanned systems group. The purpose of the group is to accelerate the development cycle of autonomous vehicle (AV) engineers by building the infrastructure to process, analyze, and learn from the data coming from our AVs, simulated tests, and empowering engineers to focus on improving the vehicle's safety and performance.
HOW YOU WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE
As the leader of the Machine Learning team, you will be responsible for managing the data platform in the cloud and advocating for powerful foundations for MLI's tools, frameworks, and services. You will also be responsible for managing modern deep learning frameworks for model development, building distributed systems & tools to support high performance distributed model training and evaluation. Responsibilities include ensuring scalable, transparent, and reliable data ingestion and management; development of robust processes for data consumption, post-processing, and developing computational pipelines.
Lead and grow a team of engineers within the ML organization
Ensure org health and structure are optimal for smooth execution of the ML goals
Ensure better engineering best practices are adopted and followed and the quality of the product offerings are at a high bar.
Drive strategic planning, vision setting and establishing scalable processes for execution.
Build and retain world-class engineering teams through mentorship and career development.
Work with teams across Oshkosh Corporation to foster a collaborative culture of testing, safety, and documentation
Pursue transformative technologies that enable us to support 10x scaling and bring affordable productivity to bend the cost curve while driving significant change for ML engineering productivity.
WHAT YOU NEED
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or another relevant field; or equivalent real-world experience
2+ years working with Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence
Experience building scalable ML Platforms with various infrastructure
Passionate about autonomous technology and how it can change the world
Experience managing teams and initiatives in a fast-paced environment
Demonstrated experience thinking strategically with analytical and problem-solving experience
HOW TO STAND OUT
MS or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or another relevant field; or equivalent real-world experience
5+ years working with Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence
Demonstrable expertise in a major database product
Proficiency in writing SQL queries for analytic purposes
