Job Description

The Team

MSK Data Products is a multidisciplinary team of designers, software engineers and data scientists working inside MSK. Our mission is to transform how technology and data are used to prevent, control and ultimately cure cancer. We operate at the complex and fast-moving intersection of medicine and technology, and build software around the needs of some of the world's leading doctors and researchers.

We are looking to recruit an expert data scientist. As a member of our team, you will play an integral role in the development of data analysis pipelines that use advanced computational methods to extract actionable insight from troves of clinical, genomic, financial and operational data - collected at our institution over 20+ years. These computational pipelines will power software products that help doctors and researchers find, visualize, and make the best use of complex medical and scientific data.

You Are

  • An experienced machine learning practitioner with a consistent track record of developing and applying advanced computational techniques to solve complex problems

  • Able to creatively combine existing computational methods, and, when necessary, develop new ones to best analyze various types of data

  • Capable of consulting and collaborating on projects involving interdisciplinary team members

You need

  • B.S./M.S. in Computer Science, Mathematics or related STEM field

  • 2-5+ years of applicable industry experience

  • Deep knowledge of advanced machine learning methodologies such as: deep learning, graphical models, natural language processing, etc

  • Programming experience in Python, Scala or C++ and deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or Torch

  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases

  • Experience building quantitative models and also coding them into production

Nice to have

  • Publications in machine learning journals and/or conferences would be a nice bonus

  • Experience working with healthcare data

Role and Responsibilities Perch's Data Team performs a function that is at the core of our business: we are responsible for obtaining, integrating with, vetting, and building the technical infrastructure to ingest the critical data sources that drive our decision-making and software. Part of this role will be working directly with the Data Science team in order to make their models production-worthy. There are four main areas that the Machine Learning Engineer will be enabling: Integrating with third-party data sources (MLS and county tax data are primary sources, among others) to support our application (Atlas) and Data Science initiativesBuilding and maintaining ETL pipelines to support business intelligenceBuilding and maintaining model training and validation pipelines for our automated valuation model (AVM)Deploying machine learning models (our AVM) to production so that analysts can use them to value the homes we make offers on. We are currently seeking a talented Machine Learning Engineer for our team. The ideal candidate possesses good technical judgment, which we define as the ability to design and build data pipelines that can be deployed quickly, require minimal maintenance, and allow for rapid iteration by data scientists, application engineers, and other data stakeholders. The candidate should be accustomed to delivering results in hours and days rather than weeks or months. The successful candidate will be team-oriented and feel comfortable with the dynamic pace of a startup, participating in all phases of product development from proof of concept to implementation and maintenance. The ability to clearly communicate in both a concise and precise manner is an absolute must.
