SESSION: Academic, (August 12, 2024-May 16, 2025) This is a one-year placement with an opportunity for re-application and hire

HOURLY RATE: $17.00/ hour up to 20 hours a week

JOB PURPOSE: To support the programmatic and community-building efforts of the Lynchburg Arts Consortium, through communication, collaboration, planning, and research.

JOB SUMMARY: The Graduate Assistant (GA) position for the Lynchburg Arts Consortium will work 20 hours per week in either Hebb Music Center or the Belonging Portfolio offices (Hundley Hall) supervised by the Director of the Lynchburg Arts Consortium. The primary goal of this position is to support the programmatic and community-building efforts of the Lynchburg Arts Consortium, by assisting with communication efforts and support collaboration among community partners.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Working an average of 20 hours per week

  • Establishing and maintaining social media accounts for the Lynchburg Arts Consortium, including the publishing of arts events on a regular basis

  • Assist with the development of promotional materials for the Lynchburg Arts Consortium

  • Assist with the planning and implementation of events sponsored by the Lynchburg Arts Consortium

  • Distribute promotional materials for events sponsored by the Lynchburg Arts Consortium

  • Participate in GA training sessions, any required one-on-one supervisory meetings, art/music/theater meetings, professional development opportunities, and other programs as needed.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • An interest in supporting the arts (art, music, and theatre)

  • Working knowledge of GoogleSuite, Canva, and other social media platforms

  • A positive and open-minded attitude

  • Excellent English-language oral and written communication skills

  • A valid United States driver's license and clear driving record.

  • Applicants must be accepted into a graduate program at the University of Lynchburg.

  • All candidates must have strong interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively with all members of the University community.

  • The selected candidate must pass a background check that is satisfactory to the University
