As Part of the Telecare Family, La Casa Psychiatric Health Facility (PHF) is a 16-bed facility providing acute psychiatric treatment to adults 18 and older.

POSITION OBJECTIVE

The LVN/LPT Supervisor provides supervision to Mental Health Workers in the assigned area; including: hiring, evaluating, scheduling, assigning duties, and overall coordination of resident care.

QUALIFICATIONS

Two (2) years of experience in psychiatric nursing in a skilled nursing facility or acute care setting is preferred. leadership experience is preferred. Graduation from a Vocational Nursing/Psychiatric Technician program, current licensure and a valid CPR Certificate are also required. Necessary skills include an understanding of psychiatric illness and treatment, knowledge of psychotropic medications, an understanding of behavior management and knowledge of the laws and regulations governing the delivery of long term (and short term when appropriate) mental health services in the State of California. Applicant must be finger printed and receive clearance from Criminal Justice Department.

  • Administering medication and treatments to residents including TB Tests

  • Overseeing and assisting with medical/laboratory procedures

  • Observes, notes and reports the effects and side effects of medications

  • Participates as a team member and provides input via reporting observation, concerns and asking appropriate questions

  • Reviews and implements resident treatment plans

  • Actively participates in multidisciplinary team meetings and treatment planning meetings.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of management of assaultive behavior techniques.

  • Keeps the supervisor informed of resident behavior and condition. Notifies the supervisor of those residents who are clinical management concerns.

  • Observes, records and reports resident social, medical and psychiatric behavior.

  • Demonstrates knowledge and proper use of equipment and supplies.

Employment Status: On-Call Shift: Varies Days: Varies POSITION SUMMARY This supervisory positon provides recovery focused services related to the safe and appropriate administration of medical treatment (including medications) as prescribed by the physician. Provides safe, effective and efficient implementation of direct care in accordance with established policies, procedures and standards of care. QUALIFICATIONS Required: * Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of program operations is required. * 2 years of RN experience. * 1 year of supervisory experience. * Valid CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) /BLS (Basic Life Support) certificate is also required. * Must be CPR, ProAct or CPI and First Aid certified on date of employment or within 60 days of employment and maintain current certification throughout employment. * All opportunities at Telecare are contingent upon successful completion and receipt of acceptable results of the applicable post-offer physical examination, 2-step PPD test for tuberculosis, acceptable criminal background clearances, excluded party sanctions, and degree or license verification. If the position requires driving, valid driver license, a motor vehicle clearance and proof of auto insurance is required at time of employment and must be maintained throughout employment. Additional regulatory, contractual or local requirements may apply. Preferred: * BSN degree preferred. * Two (2) years of experience in Behavioral health setting preferred. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS * Demonstrate the Telecare mission, purpose, values and beliefs in everyday language and contact with the internal and external stakeholders. * If employed at Inpatient program, must assist with restraint of clients in the event of assaultive behavior and pass assault crisis/crisis prevention training. * If employed at Outpatient program, must evade clients in the event of assaultive behavior and pass assault crisis/crisis prevention training. * Organizes, prioritizes and delegates work on the assigned shift. * Supervises designated staff. Provides orientation and training. Directs the recruitment, selection and when necessary disciplinary action for designated direct reports. * Oversees and provides nursing care. * Completes nursing assessments. * Assists in the welcoming, admissions and discharge process. * Establishes and maintains a therapeutic relationship with persons served. * Attends and participates in community meetings and groups. * Actively participates in multidisciplinary team meetings and treatment planning meetings. * Coordinates and supervises admissions to assure accurate and complete documentation in the medical record and timely referral to the medical physician. * Coordinates and participates in counting medications and giving report at the beginning and end of each shift. * Reviews and maintains the amount, accuracy and quality of documentation included in the medical records. * Demonstrates knowledge of crisis management and intervention. * Transcribes physician orders accurately and in a timely manner. * Administers medication and treatments to persons served. * Receives and presents change of shift report as assigned. * Adheres to medication management policies and procedures. * Notifies the prescriber and nursing Supervisor of any changes in behavior or condition. * Documents the persons served progress toward their Recovery Plan goals. * Develops and implements nursing care plans. * Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted and/or changed at the discretion of management. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
