Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse or physician provides nursing care in accordance with the legal scope of practice and within established standards of care, policies and procedures. Demonstrates performance consistent with the Mission, Vision and Strategic Plan of the organization. Demonstrates quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice and treats co-workers, patients, families and all members of the health care team with dignity and respect.

Essential Functions:

  • Representative Duties: Upholds Kaiser Permanente's Policies and Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities and applicable state, federal and local laws.

  • Performs patient care functions, within the scope of competency, considering age related needs of the patient as prescribed by physician/health care professional(s) following established protocols, policies and procedures.

  • Assist medical personnel with special procedures, minor surgical procedures and/or diagnostic exams.

  • Assess and monitor patients' condition and notify physician/health care professional for disposition.

  • Prepare and administer medications as directed by physician order following established protocols.

  • Maintain equipment and supplies.

  • Identify and arrange for equipment needing repair.

  • Apply principles of aseptic technique and infection control as directed by the Infection Control Manual.

  • Monitor patient flow and assign/direct other ancillary personnel as needed.

  • Provide medical information and education to patients, following established protocols and guidelines.

  • Document pertinent patient information, assessment and nursing procedures following established protocols.

  • Maintain patient confidentiality.

  • Perform other duties as directed.

Pay Grade: 25

Basic Qualifications:

  • One (1) year of recent (within the last three (3) years) experience as a LVN in an acute/outpatient setting.

  • Current California Licensed Vocational Nurse.

  • Current Basic Life Support card.

Notes:

  • This is a variable position, work hours will vary between 6:30am to 8:00pm. Will cover late clinic schedule at least twice a week- 10:30am-7:00pm.

  • Rotating weekends required.

  • Will work flexible expanding hours and rotate to other depts, including possible rotation to other MOB-s within the WLA service area.

  • Will be cross trained in other areas of the MOB-s including Dermatology, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, OB/Gyn, Pediatrics, Pediatrics Learning & Development and Nurse Clinic

  • Training schedule will be different than actual work schedule.

The Public Safety Officer II will conduct vehicle and foot patrol procedures, timely response to calls for service, radio proficiency, key control, completeness of reports, daily logs and forms, reports safety violations, patient restraints, fire response, criminal investigations, remain at assigned posts, enforce and adhere to policies. Expanded knowledge of the CCTV system in addition to clerical software, monitoring of surveillance cameras, calls to outside safety agencies for emergencies, monitoring of all alarms, guest relations, patient/physician/employee complaints, appropriate dress according to department policy, wearing of ID badge and performance of basic clerical duties. Candidate in this category will be required remain up to date on penal code revisions, updates, changes, etc. In addition, candidate will be expected to take continuing education courses, training and seminars relating to law enforcement if an offer of employment is made. This is a high level position that will require this level of training at all times while employed with the department This position requires the full understanding and activate participation in fulfilling the mission of Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital (MLKCH). It is expected that the employee will demonstrate behavior consistent with the core values of the hospital. The employee shall support Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital's strategic plan and the goals and direction of the quality and performance improvement process activities therein. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Conduct vehicle and foot patrol procedures in order to assure a safer, more secure environment for our employees, physicians, patients and guests * Provide timely responses to calls for service * Comprehensive radio communications proficiency * Incident investigations of all minor and major facility interactions, including all criminal investigations * Completion of all assigned reports, daily logs and required forms in orer to assure timely and complete documentation of security department activity * Provides high quality professional services to employees, patients, physicians and guests in and around the hospital facility to assure continuous flow of information in and out of the command center to all appropriate security personnel and emergency agencies * Conducts his/herself in a professional manner, consistent with the authority of the job * Reporting safety violations to appropriate leadership or department personnel * Assisting hospital personnel with disruptive and non-compliant patient restraints, as requested by medical personnel * Safety and security response to all audible fire alarms within the hospital facility * Access control at assigned posts * Expanded knowledge of the CCTV system and checkpoint system in addition to clerical software and ability to effectively monitor all surveillance cameras * Maintain external relationship with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies * Other duties as assigned by a Public Safety Supervisor or above POSITION REQUIREMENTS A. Education * High school diploma or equivalent certification required. Completion of a course on PC832 (40hr) with proof of completion required. In lieu of a PC832 certification, an Associate of Arts (AA) degree in Administration of Justice/Criminal Justice will be applicable and considered. Extensive work history in the field of public safety/military may be considered in lieu of education however, the Public Safety leadership team will make the determination, what experience level may be accepted. Training in cultural diversity or sensitivity a plus. B. Qualifications/Experience * Valid CA guard card required * Must have valid state baton permit and carry pepper spray certification or must obtain within 60 days of hire. * 1 to 3 years minimum experience working in health care environment, specifically Public Safety/Security is preferred. * Current AHA Basic Life Support certification required. * Military experience with an emphasis in military police a plus * Excellent guest relations skills required * Computer literacy required * Expertise conducting complex investigations * Experience conducting interviews and obtaining investigative information for report writing * Ability to provide detailed reports of collected data and findings * Strong attention to detail with commitment to accuracy and quality C.
