Position/Job Title: LVN Job Number: 100200279 Employment Type: Contract Location: Huntsville, TX 77320 Industry: Healthcare Salary: $43.00 Per hour Job Description: This role is for an esteemed correctional facility in Texas seeking adept LVNs. To be a viable candidate, one must hold a legitimate LVN certification/license accompanied by an active American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification/license. Prospective candidates who are IV Therapy Certified will be given preference. Other desirable qualifications include Covid-19 Vaccine, Varicella, MMR, T-Dap, TB, HepB, Current Physical, and Flu documentation. Qualifications:

• Successful completion of a Licensed Vocational Nurse Program and a current, state-issued vocational nurse license for Texas.

• A minimum of one year in Med/Surg or LTAC environment.

• Current BLS-HP certification.

• IV Therapy Certification. In this dynamic environment, you'll have the opportunity to undertake various tasks - stretching from clinic work, in-patient care, med pass, out-patient procedures, wound care, cell side care, and ER expertise to critical care. Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing extensive nursing services, treatments, diagnostic procedures, and preventive measures commensurate with inmate care and safety.

• Carrying out physicians' orders.

• Administering the prescribed medications.

• Assisting physicians with sick calls.

• Applying surgical dressings and bandages.

• Providing emergency first aid care.

• Keeping track and recording of vital signs.

• Instructing inmates about discharge planning.

• Observing signs and symptoms during sick call.

• Reporting any changes in inmates' physical or emotional condition, or reactions to treatments and medications.

• Supervising correctional staff concerning inmate healthcare and needs, if required.

• Consulting with the supervising nurse on complex cases.

• Ordering necessary supplies.

• Monitoring accurate and thorough medical records.

• Providing healthcare education to inmates as required. This full-time position operates on a 4-day & 1-night schedule. Work hours range from 0430-1815 for day shifts and 1745-0615 for night shifts. The specific working hours will be decided by UTMB. Clearance documents will be sent to the selected candidates during the review stage, and the schedule will be based on a 4:3 rotation.
