Quanex is looking for a safety conscious, Lumber Grader to join our Day Shift team located in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
In this role, you are responsible for inspecting and grading lumber in accordance with NHLA sales codes either manually or with a lumber grading machine.
What Success Looks Like:
Follows all safety procedures, rules, and guidelines and identifies any existing or potential safety issues.
Follows all standard operating procedures and notifies supervisor/management of potential procedural improvements
Attends work on time and for scheduled hours each day.
Grades lumber by inspecting each board and completes grading reports thoroughly and accurately and submits to the supervisor.
Monitors product constantly to ensure that quality standards are being met and rejects product that does not meet quality standards
Operates the infeed controls of the green system.
Performs basic preventative maintenance as required
Promotes teamwork by cooperating and supporting co-workers.

Skills & Experience Required
NHLA Certification or 10+ years of lumber grading experience.
Knowledge of hardwood lumber grades.
Experience with basic hand tools and measuring instruments.
Able to convert fractions to decimals
Positive attitude and a strong desire to learn.
Accountability and initiative
Basic Computer Skills preferred

Pay range is $20 - $25 per hour - starting wage is based on NHLA Certification or years of experience
Work Schedule: Tuesday-Friday: 6:00a - 4:30p & Overtime on Friday if needed
Saturdays and Sundays Off!
