Position Title: Secondary Special Education Teacher
Location: Hingham Middle School
Anticipated Start Date: August 26, 2024
Job Description:
The Special Education Teacher provides an appropriate educational program for students receiving educational services via an Individualized Education Program. This teacher may act as a case manager/liaison for a group of students, co-teach in a general education classroom, teach Executive Functioning Skills, English and/or Math in a self-contained environment, and support student acquisition of skills related to IEP goals. The teacher is expected to maintain open communication with parents, general education teachers, counselors, as well as contribute to the regular functioning of the school and the special education department.
Qualifications
Education: Hold a Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Education or related field.
Hold a Massachusetts Teaching License for Moderate Disabilities K-8
Meets all state and federal guidelines in order to be fully licensed and highly qualified
Current authorization to work in the United States
Responsibilities
Provide specialized programming for middle school students receiving educational services via an IEP.
Provide direct individual, small group, and/or large group instruction to address students' IEP goals/objectives. Instruction will focus on reading, math, executive functioning, social skills and other areas relating to the student's IEP
Prepare data driven IEPs and progress reports as required and within timelines
Prepare lessons, assignments, and enrichment activities that are in alignment with instruction and relate to the student's goals and objectives, that establish a productive learning environment and classroom culture in which all students are respected and feel a sense of belonging.
Collaborate with general education, related service providers to develop and implement student-specific interventions, also providing support to implement with paraeducators assigned with your caseload
Collect data to document student progress and maintain timely progress records.
Provide students, families, and staff with relevant and timely data, including monitoring and reporting students' progress to prevent regression, understanding that they are partners in this process
Participate in all scheduled professional development.
Complete all related paperwork in a timely fashion in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
Responsible for implementing other job-related duties as needed.
Performs other related duties as requested by Student Services, Principal and Team Chair.
