Ephrata Area School District, 803 Oak Boulevard, Ephrata, PA, is recruiting for a LTS Special Education Teacher

  • Emotional Support for the first semester of the 2024/2025 school year.

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated LTS Emotional Suppot Teacher to join our team and make a positive impact on the lives of our students. The teachers of Mentally and/or Physically Handicapped students are responsible for planning and implementing an effective program of instruction based on students' Individual Education Programs (IEP's).

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and support to students, both individually and in small groups, within various educational settings.

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with other members of the special education team, including speech therapists, occupational therapists, and behavior specialists.

  • Employ evidence-based teaching strategies and methodologies to address the academic, social, and behavioral needs of students with autism.

  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement, independence, and self-advocacy.

  • Regularly assess student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly to ensure meaningful educational outcomes.

  • Collaborate with general education teachers to modify and adapt curriculum materials to meet the diverse needs of students with autism.

  • Provide ongoing communication and support to parents and guardians, keeping them informed about their child's progress and addressing any concerns.

  • Attend and actively participate in IEP meetings, team meetings, and professional development opportunities related to special education.

  • Stay up to date with the latest research and best practices in autism education to continually enhance instructional methods and approaches.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Special Education.

  • Valid teaching certification with a specialization in Special Education.

  • Knowledge of special education.

  • Experience working with individuals with autism in an educational setting is a plus.

  • Familiarity with a range of instructional approaches and behavioral interventions for students with autism.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the growth and development of students.

  • Ability to adapt to different environments and travel between school locations as an itinerant teacher.

  • Must follow all District policies, work procedures and reasonable requests by proper authority.

  • Must maintain the integrity of confidential information within the Business Office.

  • Follow established protocols as outlined in Student/Faculty/Support Staff handbook.

Other Requirements: Applicants must also possess the following criminal clearances obtained within the last 12 months: Act 34 - PA Criminal Record; Act 114 - FBI Background Check; Act 151 - PA Child Abuse Clearance.

The Ephrata Area School District also requires a pre-employment drug test, physical, and TB test upon offer of employment as directed by PDE and the PA Department of Health.Status: Contracted Position

Salary Range: Current EAEA Collective Bargaining Agreement
