Logistics LTL Pricing Supervisor

Position Summary

This position performs measurements and analytics associated with our account specific rates in order to work strategically with Management on identifying areas of improvement. This is including but not limited to overseeing the duties and responsibilities of the analysts, creating metrics and reports for management to identify proper accounts and routings, rate base conversions, and interpreting contracts or CSRs for analysis/import.


  • Work with Management and Sales force on a strategy to determine appropriate carrier selections as well as routing

  • Generate metrics and criteria for margin improvements on existing accounts either by securing new rates or introducing new carriers to the route guide.

  • Assist in enhanced rate setups based on matrices, multi-gainshares, pallet , etc.

  • Run conversions across LTL base rates and/or analysis to determine discounts required to generate specific margins and markups.

  • Coordinate the communications and paperwork required for the proper submission and imports into source system

  • Interpret station issues and resolve or forward to appropriate party for resolution according to established guidelines.

  • Build effective relationships with stations and external customers.

  • Complete all required documentation in a timely manner.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Required Skills

  • 3-5 years experience in a analytics and supervisory role. Transportation experience, including LTL distribution, required. Industry knowledge of LTL carriers, distribution, footprints, rate structures, concepts, practices and procedures a must.

  • Requires excellent customer service skills to include strong verbal and written communication.

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results with minimum supervision.

  • Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are required.

  • Excellent problem identification and solving skills required. Computer skills required including proficiency using Microsoft Office software.

VIEW JOBS 1/10/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-04-10T00:00 Logistics LTL Rate Analyst Bolingbrook, IL * ID: 42009 * Full-Time/Regular Job Description: This position is responsible for various functions, the managing of all aspects of carrier relations including but not limited to rate negotiation, service issues, problem solving, metric tracking, etc. This position will work closely with RRD Logistics operations, vendors, RRD corporate, sales, and all other RRD affiliates to solve all or specific transportation needs. Position requires experience with carrier/customer rate/accessorial tariffs/tables, uplifts, and knowledge of market costs and conditions as well as the ability to create custom cost savings reports,national motor freight classification, compliance tracking tools and service measurement tools. Responsible for ensuring that all parties involved in the freight tendering and the Dedicated Carrier Dispatch process are well aware of any objectives that the company is focused on. Analyze, develop, and implement maximum use of any closed loop transportation opportunities. Responsibilities: Work is typically performed under minimum supervision, with only guidance about overall goals and objectives. Must be able to define work based on evaluation of short term and long term goals of the department. Able to independently evaluate processes, identify areas of improvement, and incorporate in to overall work objectives. * Utilize and creation of exception management tools to identify and communicate exceptions on routing guides * Interpret customer issues to discuss and resolve service issues with existing carriers. * Build effective relationships with internal staff and carriers. * Assist as required as an internal resource for the development and documentation of standard operating procedures. * Complete requests in a timely manner. * Demonstrate professional behaviors at all times. May possess additional education certification in this level. * Requires excellent knowledge of distribution concepts, practices and procedures a must. Able to apply broad work experience and knowledge when analyzing complex problems. Must be able consistently identify critical elements, variables and alternatives to develop solutions. Must be able to organize/prioritize existing resources and incorporate new information, as needed, to implement the most effective solutions. Able to communicate clearly and courteously with those who need to know of decisions/actions/problems. Able to apply excellent business acumen and collaborative skills when resolving problems. * Able to apply excellent functional computer knowledge in utilizing Microsoft Windows, MAC, or other technical tools in completing assignments. Microsoft Office software, Mercurygate transportation software and IT background preferred. Experience with transportation software, CzarLite and SMC software a must. Able to apply expertise in all the tools or applications used to complete work assignments. Able to mentor junior level team members in the use of tools and/or systems in the position. * Requires excellent communication skills with ability to state messages in a clear manner by using language that is easy for others to understand. Able to explain programs policies and procedures in language that is understood by others. Must be able to modify communication style both formal and informal to match the appropriate level of the audience targeted. * Must have strong organizational skills with ability to manage deadlines and prioritize workload and make adjustment to meet business needs.
