Job Summary:

Performs patient care activities and completes required documentation for patients of all ages under the general supervision of the Director and/or RN.

Responsibilities:

  • With general supervision performs patient care for patients of all ages.

  • Documents patient care as per policy and guidelines.

  • Provides education and information to patients and family members.

  • Provides minor maintenance and restocking of equipment.

  • Maintains professional growth and development within nursing field.

  • Participates in quality initiative and process.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Graduate of an approved school of Practical Nursing.

Certifications:

  • Current Ohio License as an Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Pharmacology certification required.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA)

Complexity of Work:

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate actions in volatile situations.

Work Experience:

  • Two years of patient care experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good hand-eye coordination, involves extensive standing walking and occasional lifting.

  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

  • Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.

  • Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids.

  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Provides safe efficient age specific nursing care to patients/families using the nursing process in order to assist them to attain, maintain, regain, and sustain optimal health status. Dimensions are: 1. Implements the nursing process by delivering effective relationship based nursing care. 2. Demonstrates technical skills in care delivery that result in safe practice and positive care outcomes. 3. Demonstrates clear communication and effective collaboration to optimize patient care and clinical operations. 4. Develops self and contributes to the professional practice of nursing. 5. Position Requirements: Thorough knowledge of nursing process and practice. Uses a wide variety of technical equipment to meet patient needs and prescribed medical therapies (i.e. stethoscopes, thermometers, sphygmomanometers and electronic monitoring devices. Education Requirements: Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred. Minimum of Diploma/Associate's Degree in nursing from accredited program. Nurses with Associates Degree/Diploma will commit at the time of hire to complete a Bachelor of Science Degree (BSN) or higher in Nursing within 5 years of hire. Note: 2016, May 2017 and August 2017 nursing school graduates are eligible to apply. Education and degree verification will be required upon receiving a job offer. License Requirements: An Ohio RN license is not required to be considered for this position.
