The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, the Nurse Manager and with the authority from the Director of Nurses, performs various tasks and assignments under the supervision of an RN. Makes routine decisions according to standard procedure and within the limits of their practice.

The LPN is expected to analyze situations and act within the limit of standard procedure. The LPN must effectively interact with patients, their family/significant others, and other health team members The LPN will demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical, psychosocial, educational and safety related criteria for the adolescent, adult and geriatric population.

Experience: Job requires experience in Medical/Surgical nursing, or strong desire to work Medical/Surgical Unit.

Special Qualifications:
Current Louisiana State Licensed Practical Nurse License. BLS and ACLS certifications.

Strong critical thinking and assessment skills. Must be able to take and give directions.

The individual may be required to flex work hours up or down to assure coverage of the department. Technician must maintain an environment conductive to performance improvement efforts. Technician will also be expected to adhere strictly to established policy and procedure and the code of ethics set forth by Teche Regional Medical Center's Code of Conduct. The Pharmacy Technician will be required to demonstrate compliance to Teche Regional Medical Center's Standards of Performance. The duties of this position serve the patient population of neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups. Experience: Minimum of two (2) years pharmacy technician required. Hospital experience preferred Special Qualifications: Certified Pharmacy Technician in the State of Louisiana. Skills: Technician must be capable of performing technical tasks as described in Job Summary. Training on specialized equipment to provide these services will be available and evaluated during the 90-day probation period. Computer skills required due to data management, order entry and reporting. Some math is necessary for basic pharmaceutical calculations. Medical terminology and understanding of pharmaceutical terminology is necessary. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Must have excellent interpersonal skills.
