Purpose of Your Job Position

As a Consulate Health Care Clinical Nurse I-LPN/Licensed Practical Nurse, you are entrusted with the responsibility of caring for our residents, families, co-workers, visitors, and all others; as well as demonstrating in all interactions, Consulate Health Care's five core values of Compassion, Honesty, Integrity, Respect, and Passion. The primary purpose of the LPN/Licensed Practical Nurse position is to provide direct nursing care to the residents, and to supervise the day-to-day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants.

Such supervision must be in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern our facility, and as may be required by the Director of Clinical Services to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times. You are entrusted to provide innovative, responsible healthcare with the creation and implementation of new ideas and concepts that continually improve systems and processes to achieve superior results.

Job Function

As Clinical Nurse I- LPN/Licensed Practical Nurse, you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties. Responsible for providing direct resident care in accordance with established plans.

Job Requirements

The LPN/Licensed Practical Nurse should have the ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of the residents served. Ability to be a supportive team member, contribute to and be an example of teamwork and team concept.

Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public. Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to nursing care facilities.

Education and Experience

Graduate/Completion of approved/accredited school of nursing. Valid license as an LPN in the state of practice.

Nursing experience preferred (but not required) in a setting serving the same age/type of resident population served by this facility.

Job Summary: Provide holistic nursing care to patients in a correctional setting. Essential Functions: * Assists health care providers, registered nurses and allied health professionals with examinations, treatments, special tests and routine procedures. * Obtains patient health history, laboratory specimens, vital signs and administers TB skin tests. * Conducts lab tests and ensures the results are delivered to correct physician or registered nurse. * Ensures patient is receiving proper care for injury or condition. * Reviews patient chart; records and reports observed symptoms, reactions, treatments, and changes in patient's conditions. * Schedules and coordinates paperwork for patient transfers to medical facilities or outside health care providers; administers medications; implement healthcare practitioners' orders and documents all patient contacts using the POMR format. * Practices safety, environmental and infection control methods. * Will adhere to Armor's Standards of Professional Conduct, and will incorporate and/or be supportive of Armor's four core FISH! Philosophies – i.e. Play, Be There, Make Their Day and Choose Your Attitude. * Respond to requests from Security Staff as well as Armor Staff in accordance with Armor and Facility Guidelines. This includes following the rules and regulations for employee conduct/behavior and chain of command set forth by the command staff at all times while working within the detention/correctional facility. * Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required: * Knowledge of patient care charts and patient histories. * Knowledge of clinical operations and documentation. * Skill in performing clinical nursing procedures. * Knowledge of patient evaluation procedures. * Ability to maintain quality, safety and infection control standards. * Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements. * Knowledge of appropriate procedures and standards for the administration of medications and patient care aids. * Ability to prepare and process laboratory samples using established protocols. * Ability to observe, assesses, and record symptoms, reactions and progress. * Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. Physical work is primary part (more than 70%) of job. Educational and Experience Requirements: * Current state license as a Practical or Vocational Nurse * Current CPR certificate * Other relevant professional experiences or educational backgrounds will be considered as deemed appropriate.
