GENERAL SUMMARY Supervises and coordinates activities of a group of clinical staff (LPN, Medical Assistant, and other clinical staff as appropriate). Provides administrative support in planning and maintaining day-to-day activities and projects. Provides general nursing care to patients within scope of licensure. FUNCTIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Monitors patient care flow to ensure efficient use of schedules and rooming of patients. Responds promptly to changes in workload, adjusting assignments as necessary to achieve optimal productivity and efficiency. Takes patient assignments and assists with coverage of in basket tasks. Writes annual performance appraisals and conducts appraisal meetings. Ensures adherence to all standards, procedures and protocols. Encourages, supports, and provides educational opportunities for employees# development. Assists in coordinating the daily operations of the practice. Ensures staffing, space, furniture and equipment/supply needs of the office are met. Analyzes work flows to ensure maximum staff utilization. Works to create a positive and harmonious working environment. Coordinates employee schedules and assignments and approves employee time off requests. Performs service recovery to promote patient and employee retention. Develops, maintains and revises office procedures and systems in order to ensure efficient, effective operations. Functions as a resource to management in designing and implementing workflow changes that will increase the efficiency and effectiveness of operations. Serves as a resource to licensed practical nurses and medical assistants; provides direction and assists, as necessary, in the performance of duties appropriately delegated in accordance with professional standards. Acts as preceptor for new employees. Facilitates orientation and training for new employees in conjunction with ambulatory nurse educator. Holds staff accountable for completion of orientation checklist and completes computer access requests. Collaborates and coordinates special quality improvement pilots and projects involving the clinical support staff. Serves as liaison with other persons/departments concerning services offered by New London Medical Group. Works closely with Clinic Leaders to optimize patient experience. Enables staff by building cooperative goals and relationships of mutual trust. Empowers staff t make decisions and feel a sense of ownership and pride in their work. Ensures staff understands their role in meeting department and organizational goals. Encourages and recognizes the contributions of employees and celebrates individual and department accomplishments. Performs other duties as required or assigned. POSITION REQUIREMENTS# Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Demonstrated organizational skills preferred. Experience coordinating activities for a group preferred. Ability to effectively delegate and hold staff accountable for responsibilities. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills required. Ability to relate sensitively to people, maintain confidentiality, multi-task and work well under pressure. Experience 2 years of ambulatory clinic experience preferred. Education Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing.
