This unit is unique in that it treats patients with psychiatric and medical conditions. This unit specializes in psychiatric assessments, treatment and training on therapeutic interventions, case management and resource linkage for patients. The pace of this unit is fast and the team works closely together. A "Licensed Practical Nurse" is a person who holds a valid Indiana license, and who functions at the direction of the Registered Nurse, Physician, Osteopathic Physician, Dentist, Chiropractor, Optometrist and Podiatrist in performance of activities requiring special knowledge or skill.
Appropriately recognizes and reports abnormal assessment data.
Collaborates with RN to create appropriate plan of care.
Effectively carries out plan of care.
Recognizes success of or modifies plan of care
At the direction of the RN, initiates nursing protocols and standing orders as condition dictates.
Appropriately communicates patient condition to the RN
In collaboration with and at the direction of the RN, provides care based on identified needs.
Demonstrates that she/he can work independently within scope of practice.
In collaboration with and at the direction of the RN, works well with the multidisciplinary team.
Uses appropriate resources - Primary RN, Charge Nurse, Unit Manager, Directors, Administrative Coordinator, Pharmacy, etc.
Demonstrates good time management by having no unjustified overtime.
Informs supervisor when hours worked may accrue overtime and incidental overtime.
Compliant with attendance policy.
Offers assistance to team to maintain unit productivity - asks "What may I do to help you leave on time?"
Collaborates with team and management to develop cost-effective solutions and improve workflow processes.
Uses team huddles and check-backs to proactively report changes.
Licensure Required: Licensure in the State of Indiana as a Licensed Practical Nurse is required
Day shift. 36 hours weekly.
