Medcor is looking to hire a nurse (LPN or RN) on a PRN basis (as-needed) to be a Worksite Health Nurse in an employer based, occupational health clinic setting in Huntsville, AL. The clinic operates Saturday-Monday 9am-7pm and Tuesday-Friday 9a-5pm.

THIS IS NOT A FULL TIME JOB. IT IS PRN/COVERAGE

The positions responsibilities include collaborative work with the medical and operational leadership at Medcor, local medical providers, client staff, with key contacts within the clients corporate structure. The day-to-day role of the Worksite Health Nurse includes patient care, ongoing workers compensation case management, Return to Work (RTW) program facilitation, and treatment plan monitoring. This position will work closely with outside medical providers.

A typical day in the life of a Worksite Health Nurse

  • Participate in daily operations at Medcors on-site clinic

  • Provide superior customer service to Medcors client and employees

  • Assessment and treatment of workplace injuries and illnesses according to Medcors Evidence Based Medicine protocols, known as the Medcor Care Protocols (MCPs)

  • Build and maintain internal team relationships

  • Support for onsite employee health and wellness efforts

  • Pre-employment and post-offer screenings

  • Documentation of care using state-of-the-art EMR and other tools

  • Case Management

  • Medical charting

You Must

  • LOVE what you do

  • Have valid licensure for the position in which you are applying

  • Have current CPR/BLS

  • Have strong computer and other technology skills (navigate cell phones, texting, fax machines, etc), as well as familiarity with EMR software

  • Be strong enough to lift a 50lb emergency response bag

  • Possess excellent verbal / written communication skills

  • Have a positive and outgoing personality

  • Be willing to go above and beyond just because thats who you are

  • Be passionate about people and giving them the best care humanly possible

  • Be able to have fun

  • You are comfortable working in a worksite clinic environment

  • You have relevant occupational health experience

  • You have experience in emergency medicine or critical care

Essential Functions * Evaluates the patient's functional status and physical therapy needs. Assists the physician in the development of the therapy plan of care. * Provides services within the scope of practice as defined by the state laws governing the practice of physical therapy, in accordance with the plan of care, and in coordination with other members of the health care team. * Observes and reports the patient's response to treatment and any changes in his/her condition to the supervising nurse and/or the physician. * Treats patients to relieve pain, develop and restore function, and / or maintain maximum functioning using acceptable standards of practice. * Instructs and informs participating members of the health care team, the patient, and the family/caregivers regarding the plan of care, functional limitations, and progress toward goals. * Visits patients according to Plan of Treatment, completes a progress note for each visit, and submits progress notes per LHC policy. * Completes all patient evaluations and develops the PT plan of care within state specific guidelines. Reports outcomes of evaluation, goals, and anticipated projected frequency of care to supervising nurse within 24 hours of the evaluation. * Participates in staff conferences and committees as necessary. * May supervise home health aides in lieu of a RN if physical therapy is the only skilled service being provided and if allowed per state regulation. * Provides supervision of the PTA as per LHC policy. * Prepares a written discharge summary and/or a written summary report on patient's condition at least every 60 days. * Provides in-service education as requested by agency leadership. * Adheres to LHC Therapy Standards of Practice in provision of services to all patients. * All other duties as assigned. Education & Experience Licensure Requirements * Current Physical Therapy licensure in state of practice. * Current CPR certification required. * Must have a current driver's license and vehicle insurance, and access to a dependable vehicle.
