The Endoscopy LPN Limited Assignment# is responsible for delivery of professional nursing care according to the established policies of the department, West Jefferson Medical Center and the Louisiana State Board of Nursing. The Endoscopy LPN is a direct patient care provider who demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to acutely ill patients undergoing procedures.

Typical direct care patients include those who are at minimal-to-moderately high risk and to a large extent care is routine, standardized and outcomes are predictable. The Endoscopy LPN must also be able to identify procedural complications and intervene appropriately.

The Endoscopy LPN recognizes his/her personal and legal limitations and seeks assistance and guidance appropriately.

The Endoscopy LPN directs and monitors the activities of support service personnel and ancillary nursing team members. The Endoscopy LPN is responsible for daily care and maintenance of endoscopes. This is a full time position working for a limited amount of time (12 weeks.)# Experience is required.

JeffCare's goal is integration of primary care and behavioral health services to best serve the needs of the population; and, empowerment of individuals to achieve improved quality of life through the provision of effective services, delivered in an environment of integrity and respect. The LPN position is an integral part of the treatment team assisting in care of individuals for both primary care and behavioral health and requires an individual with exceptional organizational and customer service skills. The position supervises Medical Assistants (MA) staffed at both Health Centers and reports to the Registered Nurse (RN) Supervisor. The incumbent is expected to complete all required in-service/trainings in order to maintain license and keep clinical skills current as well as adhere to all JPHSA policies and procedures and JeffCare procedures. REQUIREMENT: Requires a license as a Louisiana Licensed Professional Nurse. 65% Responsible for the monitoring and direct supervision of all tasks associated with the Medical Assistants' duties required for the efficient and effective running of JeffCare Health Centers, including but not limited to: * Oversees and problem solves with Nursing staff and providers as issues with MAs arise; * Monitors services provided by the Medical Assistants per their assigned duties for adherence to procedures daily; * Manages schedules of subordinates; coordinates leave requests to ensure adequate coverage, including all required meetings, supervision, and trainings; * Provides supervision, completes performance planning and evaluation, and documents strengths, weaknesses and performance per the Staff Development & Supervision Guidelines; * Monitors and coordinates the scheduling of clinical appointments to ensure that services are provided in accordance with JPHSA and investigative reviews are completed by self and subordinates according to policy, ensuring adequacy of documentation and timely submission of needed documents. Ensures changes recommended as a result of an incident are carried out timely and effectively, reporting in writing completion of these changes to supervisor and the Quality Assurance Coordinator in the Compliance & Performance Support Division (CPS); * Ensures self and MAs are trained and compliant with evidence-based nursing procedures per the Lippincott Procedures and training standards and assists in maintaining up to date training records in Relias Learning through monitoring or training/development plan; and, * Trains new hires policies and procedures and Division specific duties utilizing the New Hire 30-Day Orientation and assists with implementation of setting realistic goals to maintain exceptional performance. 15% Performs indirect services that support the prescribers in maximizing direct service time and including but not limited to: * Reviews, prepares or complete documentation for individuals' appointments, and post visit orders, including but not limited to reconciling medications, recording lab/order instructions and enters results, obtaining release of information/consents, documenting clozapine lab results, and completing prior authorizations; * Receives and returns telephone calls to individuals/significant others regarding missed appointments, medication issues, and other areas of concern; discusses medication issues with the individual's physician/nurse practitioner; * Follows up on all missed appointments for assigned prescriber(s) per current procedure; * Participates as an active member in huddle meetings and identifies areas of concern in both primary care and behavioral health treatment of individuals on schedule; * Assists with individuals presenting in crisis including monitoring the individual until relieved by another staff person, obtaining consents, making necessary copies, contacting other facilities, obtaining transportation; * Monitors and reports to the RN Supervisor monthly and as directed all inventory/supply needs; * Monitors the Automatic External Defibrillator (AED), refrigerator thermometers, and other equipment daily, weekly, or monthly as per procedure; * Keeps work areas and exam rooms neat, clean, organized, and stocked with needed supplies; disposes of contaminated supplies appropriately; * Identify needed supplies and submitting list to supervision for ordering; * Reports any safety or hazardous conditions as needed to supervisor, Health Center Manager (HCM), and Facilities Manager; * Recognizes and refers issues of concern to RN Supervisor or HCM; and, * Assists in other clinical areas as needed and directed by the RN Supervisor or HCM. 15% Performs direct care services that include but are not limited to the following: * Meets and greets individuals per the current workflow and customer service standards; * Prepares individuals for Physician or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) visits including but not limited to the following: * Obtains/updates chief complaint; * Obtains prior medical history; * Obtains and reconciles current and past medications; * Obtains and reconciles allergies; * Obtains tobacco use history; * Obtains responses to PHQ-2 and, if indicated, PHQ-9 depression scales; * Documents all responses in the electronic health record (EHR); * Documents administration of vaccines for children per LINKS; Prepares individuals for examination/procedure; Administers oral medications, injectable medications, and immunizations as directed by Physician/APRN; Obtains blood samples and processes according to current training, procedures and laboratory directions, as ordered by Physician/APRN; Administers tuberculosis screening/testing, provides education, evaluates testing results, completes required follow-up referrals as needed; Administers Breathalyzer tests; Completes documentation of all required forms and data fields in the EHR per agency and CMS standards; Completes any needed orders/referrals/follow-up for laboratory work, care coordination, specialty care services after visit per Physician/APRN orders. Adheres to best practices or evidenced based practices in the provision of services including but not limited to Universal Precautions, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention techniques, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and AED techniques. 5% The LPN performs other duties, direct and indirect, as assigned by supervisor, to meet the needs of JeffCare.
