  • Administers and/or supervises the self-administration of medications.

  • Verifies identity of Resident receiving medication, verifies that the correct medication is being given, and records time of administration on the MAR/MOR.

  • Presents medication to Resident and observes ingestion or other application, or administers medication.

  • Obtains and records Residents vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration), weight, food and fluid intake and output, as directed.

  • Observes Resident to detect response to specified types of medications and prepares report or notifies designated personnel of unexpected reactions.

  • Counsels residents in identifying and resolving social or other problems.

  • Schedules doctor's appointments based on the needs of the resident

  • Assures that all new medications are faxed to the pharmacy in order to get the prescription filled timely and accurately.

  • Informs families when mail order medicines need to be reordered.

  • Talk to physician's offices and doctors as needed to take phone orders or change orders for a resident.

  • Assures call lights are answered in a timely manner to attend to the residents needs as soon as possible after the call light is signaled (7 minutes' maximum).

  • Keep accurate counts of the narcotic sheet

  • Attends all training and conferences as required to stay abreast of changes in the nursing profession as well as to maintain appropriate CEU's for license, with prior approval of supervisor. Assures all training required by the state regulations is completed and documented each year.

  • Assures all caregiver duties as performed as assigned and documented appropriately.

  • Participates in the Care Planning process as assigned.

  • Assists in the oversight of appropriate training for all nursing staff to assure requirements for state regulations are met, as assigned by supervisor.

  • Addresses associate, family and resident concerns to promote satisfaction and good communication.

  • Is fully knowledgeable of the fire evacuation and disaster policy of the community and participates as assigned in fire and disaster drills.

  • Demonstrates an understanding of compliance and ethics program policies and procedures.

  • Completes all mandatory compliance, HIPAA and state and federal regulatory training as required.

  • Maintains appropriate degree of confidentiality.

  • Performs other duties as assigned and which relate to the success of Elmcroft and the Care, Comfort, and Happiness of our residents.

VIEW JOBS 11/20/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-18T00:00 <span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family:georgia,serif;"><b style="font-family: georgia, serif; font-size: 14px;">Global Empire, LLC (GHG) is a Healthcare Staffing Company specialized in providing reliable and qualified healthcare professionals for Government contracts nationwide. </b><b style="font-family: georgia, serif; font-size: 14px;">We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner for an available contract opportunity to provide services for the inmates incarcerated at the United States Penitentiary in Lewisburg, PA.</b><br /> <br /> <strong style="font-family: georgia, serif; font-size: 14px;">Available Position:</strong> Nurse Practitioner<br /> <br /> <strong style="font-family: georgia, serif; font-size: 14px;">Place of Performance: </strong> Services will be performed on-site in the Health Services Department of the United States Penitentiary (USP), located at 2400 Robert Miller Drive, Lewisburg, Pennsylvania 17837. <br /> <br /> <strong style="font-family: georgia, serif; font-size: 14px;">Work Schedule:</strong> The contractor will normally work seven (7) hours per day, four (4) days per week, excluding Federal Holidays. Work hours will normally be between 6:00 AM and 1:30 PM with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. These hours may be adjusted to meet the needs of the institution. The contractor shall not normally exceed 30 hours per week.<br /> <br /> <strong style="font-family: georgia, serif; font-size: 14px;">Description of Services (includes but it is not limited</strong> <strong style="font-family: georgia, serif; font-size: 14px;">to): </strong><br /> The contractor shall be responsible for, but is not limited to:<br /> Provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive health care services for the inmate<br /> Take medical histories, examine patients, and order and interpret laboratory tests and xrays<br /> Make a diagnosis, provide treatment plans and prescribe medications<br /> Clinically manage injuries by suturing, splinting, and immobilizing<br /> Attend to medical emergencies<br /> Record progress notes, recommend clinically necessary outside consultation, instruct and counsel, and order or carry out therapy<br /> Emergency consultation to be performed by the contractor in instances where deemed necessary. Perform minor surgery utilizing local anesthesia during consultation visits<br /> Work collaboratively with the staff physician(s) and consulting physician(s) in planning, instituting, evaluating and revising program plans<br /> Assists in determining conditions, resources and policies essential to delivery of the health care services<br /> Discriminates between normal and abnormal findings to recognize early stages of serious physical, emotional, or mental problems<br /> Manages the daily operation of the clinic and conducts daily sick call; which may include securing health histories from the patient, recording findings and providing clinical evaluations<br /> Provides a wide range of emergency services, in the absence of the physician<br /> Attire: The contractor is expected to wear professional clothing while on duty (scrub uniforms, cargo pants, and polo shirts are approved). The attire worn shall also be appropriate for the correctional environment in which the contract employee will be performing.<br /> Inmate Management: Provision of services will require frequent and unsupervised contact with inmates.
