SUMMARY:

Working in conjunction with the Director of Primary Care Services is responsible for daily staffing activities that promote appropriate clinic staffing to maintain care in a safe and therapeutic environment. Coordinates and provides the EMR training for all ambulatory new hires as well as remediation for staff members as identified. Works in the capacity of a LPN as staffing requires.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Initiates courteous patient contact, prepares patient by completing vital signs, a brief history, and a preliminary physical assessment.

  • Assists the physician in patient examination, assists in clinic evaluation and clinical procedures using sterile technique as needed.

  • Initiates and assists physicians with emergent situations and administering Basic Life Support.

  • Completes procedures safety that are ordered by the provider that fall within training (include injections, EKG, venipuncture, etc)

  • Performs specimen collection, in-hours labs according to protocols, and daily quality checks.
    6.Maintains pharmacy and clinic supplies at par level; checks all medications and supplies monthly for expiration.

  • Maintains patient's medical record and ensures proper documentation of examination, evaluation, treatments and correspondence

  • Conducts patient discharge teachings and ensures that all patients fully comprehend discharge instructions

  • Manages patient calls, medication refills, and test results to ensure continuity of care, and reinforce discharge and follow-up instructions.

  • Promotes a supportive, positive environment for both staff and physicians.

  • Ensures that all lab and x-ray reports are reviewed, initialed by the physician and filed in patient's EMR

  • Follows up appropriately on all abnormal lab and x-ray results

  • Files all hospital records in the EMR a timely manner.

  • Communicates any problems or organizational concerns to manager.

  • Provides information for patients on after-hours care and options

  • Provide culturally appropriate care to all patients and work to address or remove barriers when discovered.

  • Comply with HIPPA and safety procedures. Adheres to established OSHA and infection control policies.

  • Proficient in ICD-10 and CPT coding.

  • Obtain pre-cert, prior authorization for outpatient diagnostic studies and procedures

  • Working extended hours, some weekends and holidays are required.

  • Promote efficient, organized and pleasant office operations in the medical office


  1. Work with patients to assist them in developing self-management skills in an effort to change behaviors and improve outcomes

  • Participates in daily huddles, staff meetings and in evaluations of performance and job satisfaction

  • Collaborate with patient care team, promptly communicating any information that is important for continuity of care

  • Provides culturally appropriate care to all patients and work to address or remove barriers when discovered

  • Work together with the clinical coordinators, the Medical Director and other staff to assess patient population statistics, develop appropriate interventions and improve population health outcomes.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Providing ongoing evaluation of the quality and effectiveness of the educational activities to ensure that they maintain and enhance professional development that promotes the delivery of cost effective high quality healthcare and are evidence-based

  • Coordinates orientation of new staff to the organization assuring that required training/orientation is scheduled, completed and documented in HR files

  • Develops/coordinates education plans related to initial and ongoing competency validation

  • Coordinates and provides the EMR training for all patient care new hires as well as remediation for staff members as identified

  • Plans, prepares and maintain materials for use in educational programs for accuracy and relevance to the target audience.

  • Teaches content as needed and/or assigned within clinical expertise to facilitate orientation, staff development and/or safe practice.

  • Participates in committees, task forces, projects as requested

  • Participates in review of activities or processes as requested

  • Maintain flexibility when managing multiple roles and responsibilities

  • Maintains ongoing open communications with user liaisons and team members. Participates in periodic open forums with all team members and user representatives in order to be proactive in problem resolution and scheduling of requests.

  • Works with team members, user liaisons and others to verify that information from computer system(s) is appropriately distributed and understood.


  1. Ensures proper placement of staff based on their skills/competency.
  2. Contacts office staff in PRN pool and fulltime float pool to work needed shifts. Serves as a timekeeper for PRN multi-area staff and fulltime float staff.
  3. Utilizes systems appropriately and accurately, makes changes and updates accurately.
  4. Responsible for Quality Improvement activities and tracking.
  5. Ensures that all reports are timely and pertinent with accurate information.
  6. Responsible for operational issues such as schedules and payroll.

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:

A. High School Graduate or Equivalent required.

B. Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the state of Louisiana

C. Current BLS Certification (CPR-C)

D. Excellent computer skills

E. Bilingual in English/ French preferred

F. Perform procedures safely and only those that fall within training and experience

G. Good communication skills, verbal and written

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Physical demands considered medium work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor. Maximum lift of 11 25 pounds on a frequent basis, with a maximum lift of 21 to 50 pounds on occasion.
    2.Ability to lift, push, pull, and / or move objects and equipment that fit within these weight categories.
    3.Walking and standing most of the time while on duty.
    4.Occasional lifting of patients with assistance.
    5.Frequent reaching and handling of instruments and equipment when attending patient's needs.
    6.Hearing to distinguish difference in heartbeat and breathing of patient.
    7.Near visual acuity to read gauges and dials in equipment.
    8.Must possess communication skills necessary to interface with physicians, patients, and other employees in a tactful, confidential and diplomatic matter.
    9.Must have patience and be able to handle interruptions throughout the day.
