  • Responsibilities*
    CHI St. Alexius Health Dickinson is hiring a part-time LPN to work in our Med Surg Peds department. This position provides nursing care to chronic and stabilized acute patients under the direction of a Registered Nurse; participates in each phase of the nursing process and may provide supervision to nurse aides; adheres to the performance standards established for this position. This position supports the mission, vision and philosophy of CHI and St. Joseph's Hospital.

  • Key Responsibilities Include...*

  • Follows and revises the plan of care/Kardex according to policy and individual patient needs.

  • Participates in discharge planning per policy.

  • Assesses patient per policy and need in age appropriate manner.

  • Teaches patient and family about treatments, diagnosis, care, medications and discharge plan.

  • Adapts nursing care to specific age group. When unfamiliar, consults resource nurse or resource guide.

  • Documents accurately and timely (at the time of occurrence) in the medical record the following:

  • Assessments, Teaching, Family Involvement, Interventions, Patient response, Discharge Plan, Implementation of MD orders, and medication.

  • Qualifications*

  • Active Practical Nurse license that qualifies to work as an LPN in North Dakota (either an ND LPN license or a compact LPN license issued in another state).

  • ASPN or diploma from technical Practical Nursing program

  • IV certification if not part of education program

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred or must obtain 30 days of hire, transfer, or promotion into RN role.

This position will be working in our Family Practice Clinic. It is also important to display excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to effectively educate patients and their families on the in-home healthcare process. As a LPN, you will be responsible for delivering the highest quality patient care according to the specific orders of each patient's individual physician. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Physician, Licensed Practical Nurse functions as a vital member of the healthcare team who contributes to the success of the practice by demonstrating customer/patient focus, effective communication, professionalism, and teamwork. Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate comprehensive care provided to selected patient populations and their families. This will involve, utilizing your knowledge and skills to educate patients and their families on prevention and healthy habits. * Additional responsibilities for this health care role include:* * Performs basic nursing care to patients by following established standards and procedures. * Collects patient data such as vital signs; notes how the patient looks and acts, or responds to stimuli, and reports this information accordingly. * Prepares and administers injections, performs routine tests, treats wounds, and changes bandages. * Prepares patient records and files using established medical record forms/automated systems and documentation practices. * Administers certain prescribed medications, and monitors and documents treatment progress and patient response. * Qualifications* * Minimum Qualifications* * Must be a graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing program. * Must have current/valid Licensed Practical Nurse license from the North Dakota state licensing board or compact license to practice in North Dakota. * Preferred Qualifications* * 1 year experience in a clinic or acute hospital nursing setting. * Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred or obtained within 30 days of hire.
