The Licensed Practical Nurse provides care within the scope of the Ohio/Kentucky Nurse Practice Act. The Licensed Practical Nurse is accountable for the delivery of nursing care utilizing the nursing process, evidence-based standards, policies, procedures and guidelines of the organization. The Licensed Practical Nurse will incorporate the American Nursing Association Code of ethics for nurses in daily practice.
Assess: The Licensed Practical Nurse shall contribute observations to the nursing assessment of the behavioral health patient. The License Practical Nurse will accurately and timely:
A. Collect and record objective data and subjective about the patient's condition; and
B. Report and record objective and subjective data as appropriate to the other members of the healthcare team.
C. Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the lifespan.
Plan: The Licensed Practical Nurse will accurately and timely contribute to the development of the nursing component of the patient's care plan.
Implement: The Licensed Practical Nurse will accurately and timely implement the nursing plan of care, which may include:
A. Administrating medications and treatments accurately as prescribed by the Physician, Physician Assistant or Certified Nurse Practitioner.
B. Administering nursing care under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
C. Collaborating with other members of the treatment team.
D. Complete 15 minute's safety checks.
Evaluate: The Licensed Practical Nurse shall accurately and timely contribute to the evaluation of the patient's response to the nursing interventions.
Facilitate the group process in wellness groups and group psycho-education groups.
Demonstrates ethical, sound professional practices and personal accountability. Acts in alignment with the mission and core values of Mercy Health.
Holds others accountable to standards of performance.
Displays a curiosity and desire for knowledge and staying current with colleagues, be curious about business and the health care services industry.

Qualifications - Minimum
Required Minimum Education:
2 year Associates Degree
2 year Associates
Required: Current unencumbered applicable state license required.
Graduate of an approved practical nurse program. AAPT level II within one year of hire. Experience in working in a psychiatric setting highly preferred.
Basic Life Support Certification required. De-Escalation Training required within 90 days of hire.
A diploma nurse may be considered if experience in mental health field.
Hours per pay period: 72
Hours: 6:45pm to 7:15am
Position will include holidays, weekends and On-call per nursing unit policy.
