Job Details Description Reports to: Head Nurse Primary Responsibilities The LS nurse will demonstrate prompt and regular attendance, and time off is expected to coordinate with The Lovett School All time off requests will go through the Head Nurse for approval.

Once approved, the nurse requesting time off is responsible for arranging an approved substitute nurse for the day(s) requested. Once a schedule change is made, both nurses will be obligated to work the designated days. The LS Nurse will present a professional and well-groomed appearance according to the Lovett dress code and adhere to the Lovett Faculty and Staff Handbook.

The LS Nurse will use a distinct clinical knowledge base for decision-making in nursing practice. They will deliver nursing services consistent with Georgia Board of Nursing rules and regulations, using procedures that are efficient, safe, and effective. They will maintain accurate documentation of clinic services, including emergencies, and demonstrate ethical and professional behavior, including maintenance of confidentiality at all times.

The LS Nurse will administer and document medications, including emergency medications, according to approved Health Center policies, procedures, protocols, and written physician directions. The LS Nurse will organize and maintain a clean, orderly clinic to ensure a safe physical environment. This includes locking medication cabinets, practicing standard precautions at all times, maintaining sharps containers in appropriate locations, and maintaining adequate clinic supplies.

The LS Nurse will provide privacy and a caring environment; display and model respect toward students, faculty, and staff; serve as a student advocate; and establish and communicate clear behavior expectations in the clinic to students, faculty, and staff. The LS Nurse will identify and manage individuals with suspected infectious illnesses and help prevent transmission to others. The LS Nurse will communicate and collaborate with school personnel, other Health Center nurses, students, and families in a professional manner and with appropriate frequency about school health issues.

The LS Nurse will ensure all Lower School students have a 3231 Certificate of Immunization Form on file in the electronic medical record. The LS Nurse will generate an annual report at the beginning of the school year regarding Lower School students with allergies and Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHP). The nurses will communicate with appropriate personnel, including the Director of Dining Services and corresponding teachers. The LS Nurse will provide education on various health-related topics to Lower School students at the direction of the Head Nurse or Lower School administrator.

The LS Nurse will perform other duties, including, but not limited to administration of vaccinations or testing, as assigned by the Head Nurse or the appropriate Lovett. Position Requirements The LS nurse will maintain an active State of Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license; a BSN is the preferred undergraduate degree at Lovett. The LS nurse will have a minimum of 1 year of clinical nursing experience; 2 years of school nursing experience is preferred.

The LS nurse will keep current with CEU requirements for the State of Georgia to keep their RN license active; a copy of this license will be presented to Human Resources at hiring and the Head Nurse at subsequent biannual renewals. The LS nurse will have and keep current CPR/AED/First Aid training/certification; certification cards will be presented to HR or Head Nurse at hiring and subsequent. The LS nurse may, at times, be required to rotate through the main clinic for middle and upper school students (Grades 6-12) for training purposes.

The LS nurse is expected to perform routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities. The LS nurse is expected to have full communication with Lower School parents regarding student Health Center visits, illness, and injury as deemed appropriate by the Head Nurse. The LS nurse will be proficient in written and oral communication, in basic clinical skills including, but not limited to, blood pressure monitoring, evaluation of illness, triage of emergency, and knowledge of basic pediatric first aid care and disease process.

The LS nurse will maintain a positive working relationship with school personnel, students, and families; competency in computer applications including electronic health records, record keeping, and organizational abilities; interpersonal skills necessary for overseeing the Health Center; and knowledge of fundamental nursing concepts, practices, and procedures. The LS nurse is required to learn and become proficient in the electronic health system The Lovett School is currently using and completing training on any new platforms that are incorporated. The LS nurse is expected to participate in specialized pediatric continuing education for asthma, diabetes, concussion, and other commonly seen pediatric diseases/injuries.

Should a deficiency be observed by the Head Nurse; these continuing education offerings will be required. Field trips: If a nurse is scheduled for an overnight field trip requested by Lovett (at present 5th and 8th grades) those days will not count as vacation days and the Head Nurse will be responsible for the schedule change or substitute nurses for those.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
