This position will work under limited supervision to perform sales, marketing and promotional responsibilities supporting Lottery products and programs. Use of state issued vehicle will be provided to execute sales goals that are set for assigned Lottery retailers within a geographical area. Communities for this sales territory are listed below:
Rochester, Caledonia, Chatfield, La Cresent, Lanesboro, Preston, Rushford, Spring Valley, Stewartville, and Winona.
Responsibilities include recruiting and retaining retailers to sell Lottery tickets by use of sales presentations, cost and benefit analysis, overcoming objections, negotiation and persuasion; merchandise the Lottery product line at assigned retail accounts; negotiate, create, conduct and evaluate Lottery retailer promotions and incentive programs to maximize ticket sales and educate Lottery players; and manage assigned key account retailers to maximize ticket sales via participation in Lottery programs. Analyze retail account sales performance and negotiate changes to the retail environment designed to increase Lottery sales.
Provide on-going training to retail managers and staff. The position will represent the Lottery before the public, players, retailers and media.
Travel time is close to 100%.
Overnight stay will rarely be required.
Two years' experience (Within the last 10-years) in professional sales selling a major consumer product including territory management and product merchandising/promotional experience.
Four (4) year college degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales or related degree.
Completed Alternative Lottery Sales Representative Qualification Process and be a current Lottery employee.
NOTE: Experience will not be credited for delivery driver only, counter sales and services.
Must maintain a Class D Driver's License: a single unit vehicle with a gross vehicle weight of less than 26,000 pounds. This is a basic driver's license.
Requires occasionally lifting articles of 25-30 pounds maximum and frequently lifting and/or carrying objects such as promotional materials and dispenser cases. This job may require walking or standing to a significant degree on rough terrain or may involve sitting for extended periods of time with pushing and pulling of arm and/or leg controls.
