The Loss Recovery Lease Account Representative I will work both individually and as part of a team to maximize dollars per charged off account to positively impact net losses. This team member provides recovery efforts on charged-off accounts through various collection efforts and remedies. This employee has contact with customers, agents, and various internal departments.



  • Contact charged off accounts to request payments and/or collateral to bring the account to current status in a prompt, courteous and professional manner

  • Negotiate best settlement arrangement possible and perform related internal processes

  • Research and resolve complex customer accounts while adhering to department policies and procedures, as well as FDCPA guidelines

  • Utilize advanced skip tracing or collection techniques and other available resources for accounts where there has been difficulty establishing phone contact

  • Monitor and provide feedback to less-experienced Account Reps to ensure maximum effectiveness and adherence to collection laws and procedures

  • Provide mentoring and training as needed to team members to develop the utilization of all available resources to accomplish goals

  • Assist in technical training of new hires

  • Handle escalated calls and assist team members with resolution of difficult accounts when necessary

  • Provide feedback to management on team member performance

  • Consistently meet or exceeds department goals

  • Consistently adhere to work schedule

  • Promote and work effectively in a team environment




  • Knowledge of debt collection policies and procedures

  • Knowledge of debt collection strategies and remedies for clearing accounts


  • Ability to navigate through account servicing and debt collection systems

  • Demonstrated strong negotiation and escalation skills; ability to negotiate assertively when required

  • Self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to utilize a variety of resources to research and resolve delinquent accounts

  • Demonstrate excellent judgment skills when responding to inbound/outbound calls

  • Willingness and ability to effectively/efficiently perform in a team productivity-measured environment

  • Ability to relate well with others and constructively interact with a variety of people

  • Ability to proactively achieve goals and objectives, which positively impact our overall business

  • Strong ability to effectively and efficiently multi-task


  • High School required


  • 3-5 Years A minimum of three years' experience in collections and/or charged-off recoveries Required

VIEW JOBS 11/30/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-28T00:00 Overview Under direct supervision of the Loss Mitigation Team Leader, the Loss Mitigation Account Representative performs recovery efforts to minimize losses on accounts that are identified as impounds, total loss or substitution of collateral. In addition, this team member may have responsibility for expired loans or other small balance accounts. This team member has contact with customers, insurance agents, repossession agents and other outside agencies. Responsibilities JOB DUTIES * Review and monitor all total loss, impounds, substitution of collateral or expired loan queues on a daily basis * Properly document all account activity in the computer system * Assist insurance adjusters with requests, questions and problems regarding any pending claim settlements * Initiate contact with customers or agencies in an effort to negotiate payments or to satisfy any deficiency balances; Calls are generated by manual dialing and by predictive dialer * Recommendations to repossess or abandon impounds by assessing the value of the vehicle vs any storage/repair/repossession fees * Prepare Repossession Assignment Cover Sheet (RACS) and ensure all actions comply with all federal and state regulatory requirements * Assess the value of vehicles and ensure coordination between the customers and dealerships on substitution of collaterals * Maintain losses at or below established guidelines for assigned job duties * Recommend settlements as circumstances warrant Qualifications Knowledge * Basic knowledge of vehicle titles and state DMV regulations * Basic knowledge of the collection policies and procedures and be familiar with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act Skills * Good oral and written communication skills * Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations in order to perform duties described above * Accurate typing and data entry skills * Ability to operate standard office equipment and demonstrate competency in the use of standard software applications * Excellent negotiation skills * Interpersonal skills necessary to promote a cooperative team environment and provide good customer service Additional Knowledge and Skills * Previous collections experience preferred, automobile collections desired Education * High School Diploma or equivalent required * Bachelor's Degree preferred Work Conditions * Occasional overtime or split shifts may be required * Fast-paced office environment * Strong focus on providing quality service to internal and external customers * Subject to daily service level requirements GM Financial Arlington TX
