Job Description:

  • Carry out the supporting functions of bankrupt accounts, total loss claims for non-repossessed collateral, and the legal / recovery efforts.

  • Approach work with an understanding that the ultimate purpose of all roles in the collections are is to minimize loss to the credit union in every task undertaken.

  • Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of operational procedures within the collections department.

  • Maintain a mastery of the processes and concepts around mitigating loss through the bankruptcy and legal processes.

  • Efficiently handle and manage invoices from a variety of external stakeholders, including attorneys, courts, insurance companies, and other relevant parties.

  • Proactively troubleshoot to guarantee the prompt settlement of insurance claims and distribution of bankruptcy funds as required.

  • Embrace and uphold cross-training initiatives with the Special Assets Representative to effectively handle tasks delegated by leadership.

  • Support leadership by meticulously maintaining accurate tracking systems and generating comprehensive performance reports pertaining to bankruptcy and recovery endeavors.

  • Foster strong, collaborative relationships with external attorneys and take a proactive approach in providing strategic guidance and instructions tailored to specific situations.

  • Receive and process bankruptcy and legal notices in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Ensure accurate and timely coding of member accounts in response to legal or bankruptcy notices, maintaining compliance with established protocols.

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, policies, and procedures

  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

  • 1 - 3 years of previous experience in loss mitigation, collections, or a similar role within the financial services industry.

  • Georgia Paralegal Certification strongly desired.

  • Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices related to loss mitigation is a plus.

  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.

  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
