Loss Control Surveyor responsibilities:

  • Individually scheduling appointments with clients to obtain necessary information

  • Contacting clients and communicating via phone, email, and face to face discussions

  • Inspect commercial and residential properties for hazardous conditions

  • Evaluate operational and safety practices including exposures and hazards

  • Write recommendations for the reduction of losses

  • Submit reports via web-portal in checklist and narrative formatting

  • Adhere to customer requirements and quality standards

  • Maintain confidentiality and act with integrity


Qualifications for the ideal Independent Contractor:

  • Act with professionalism and urgency

  • Ability to observe and evaluate potentially hazardous conditions and write recommendations

  • Skills in time management, verbal/ written communications, and web-based applications

  • Background in construction, safety, fire safety and risk services beneficial

  • Requires basic knowledge and education in safety inspections on commercial or residential properties

VIEW JOBS 11/7/2019 12:00:00 AM 2020-02-05T00:00 SUMMARY The Loss Management Specialist I is responsible for handling the collection of accounts and recovering monies owed the Credit Union in accordance with Credit Union policies and philosophy. The types of accounts include, but are not limited to, credit card, home equity, auto, consumer, returned deposits and charge-offs. RESPONSIBILITIES * Perform all responsibilities in accordance with BECU Competencies and Information Protection requirements * Accountable to complete number of calls on dialer necessary to reach delinquency and recovery goals * Analyzes member's accounts and refer for appropriate action when necessary to help minimize delinquency and loss * Locate contact numbers and addresses performing skip and related activities as needed using all tools provided for members without valid information * Report address changes and phone numbers to maintain files regarding members for correct and current information * Documents conversations and payment arrangements with members accurately in the system of record * Have a thorough knowledge of all state and federal collections laws and guidelines * All interactions with members are courteous and professional * Strive for continuous improvement of processes and service * Maintain effective communication with all Credit Union employees to ensure coordination and exchange of information for accomplishing goals * Perform all responsibilities in accordance with BECU Competencies and Information Protection requirements * Perform additional duties as assigned by manager QUALIFICATIONS * High school diploma or equivalent * One year experience in collections or financial institution contact center required * Ability to present a professional image to members, co-workers, and outside contacts * Ability to speak persuasively and listen critically * Detail oriented, with good organizational skills * Ability to prioritize multiple tasks * Excellent verbal and written skills to effectively communicate with members and co-workers * Ability to work independently, and as a team member, while using discretion in decision making and sound judgement in problem solving * Intermediate skills using MS Office and database software * Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality * Ability to work well under deadlines * Intermediate skills using MS Office and database software * Work additional hours as necessary to accomplish objectives, goals, and projects EEO Statement: BECU is an equal opportunity employer.
