+STEPS TEACHER - POSITION IS FROM August - November 2024

Job Summary: The +STEPS Special Education Teacher will work in the district's substantially separate preschool program. Grade levels included are Pre-K. Work is performed under the supervision of the Preschool Coordinator or Director of Pupil Personnel Services.

Essential Functions: The essential functions or duties listed below are intended only as an illustration of the various types of work that may be performed.   • Experience working with young children and children diagnosed with Autism and/or students with significant social/emotional/behavioral disorder(s)

  • Instruct students in academic subjects, using a variety of techniques such as phonetics, multi-sensory learning, and repetition, in order to reinforce learning and to meet students' varying needs and interests.

  • ABA experience- implementing behavior plans, teaching using ABA methodology in discrete trial and incidental contexts

  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Certified (provided by the district)

  • Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning

  • Develops schemes of work, lesson plans and tests that are in accordance with established district procedures and curriculum frameworks

  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment

  • Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction

  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures

  • Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and policies of the school district

  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use data to adjust teaching strategies

  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development

  • Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, district policies and school regulations

  • Participate in department, school, district and parent meetings

  • Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs

  • Prepare the classroom for class activities

  • Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities

  • Observe and evaluate students' performance and development

  • Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds

  • Participate in professional development activities in and outside the district

  • Any other relative duties as assigned by the Assistant Principal or Principal
