Qualifications:

  • Candidate must be a graduate of an accredited college or university and hold a proper Pennsylvania certification for the position

  • Bachelor's degree required

  • Valid PA certification specific to content area: Grades PK-4

  • Demonstrated knowledge in content area of Reading/Language Arts

  • Ability to effectively present information to adult learners, including teachers and parent

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret curriculum guidelines, periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and lesson plans

  • Ability to respond appropriately to questions from students, parents, and all level of administrative staff.

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

  • Possess effective interpersonal skills with the ability to interface diplomatically with other teachers, administrators, parents, students, support staff, and outside professional contracts

Duties & Responsibilities: (Abbreviated- Please review the attached Job Description for more details on this specific opportunity)

  • Administer and/or support teachers in the organization and administration of literacy assessments for the purposes of placement, diagnosis, and/or grouping for instruction
  • Deliver direct instruction for students in need of individual and/or small group literacy instruction
  • Demonstrate effective practices in literacy instruction by modeling lessons or co-teaching
  • Provide ongoing support to assist teachers to implement best practice literacy instructional strategies
  • Provide support for teachers implementing effective literacy strategies by modeling lessons, co-teaching, and having reflective conversations with teachers
  • Lead professional development on literacy strategies for staff that includes, but is not limited to, facilitating professional learning communities in the area of literacy
  • Assist principal, teachers, and core team with the analysis and organization of individual, group and school literacy data for the purpose of instruction, intervention, and/or evaluation process
  • Monitor and evaluate literacy educational resources. Support the implementation of the ELA curriculum and core literacy resources
  • Facilitate partnerships with parents and elicit parental support and involvement through parent conferences, parent training, and instructional materials for the home in the area of literacy

Salary 2024-2025 School Year:

Full salary matrix is available in the appendix of the following collective bargaining agreement, which can be accessed by clicking here. Placement upon salary scale is dependent upon education and years of teaching service.

Schedule:

7.5 hours per day based upon district-approved calendar

Eligibility- No Waiting Period

New Hires or Newly Eligible

You have 31 days from the date that you are benefit eligible to make your elections. If you do not make elections during this time, you will only be enrolled into any benefit that is provided by the District at no cost to you.

Life Benefit

Pays 1 x your basic annual salary up to maximum of $50,000

Income Protection Benefit

Pays 60% of your basic monthly pay, up to $2,800 per month

Tuition Reimbursement

75% of tuition if grade if B or better is attained; limit 12 credits per year.

Induction Program

All new teachers, including Long Term Substitutes (LTS), will participate in the DASD Induction Program. The district offers a one- or two-year program depending on the number of years of prior professional experience within PA public schools.
