Two Roads Academy is an independent Grade 5-12 school in Colchester, Vermont. Two Roads Academy offers individualized and small group learning in a developmentally appropriate, therapeutic learning environment for students whose needs cannot be met in their home schools.
Two Roads Academy combines Acceptance and Commitment Training, Personal Learning Curriculums and an individualized approach to student programming in conjunction with a strong focus on outdoor programming and learning. We believe that all students can achieve their full potential and become successful and valuable members of society. When a student's needs cannot be met by the environment in the public school, time in a more supported, therapeutic, evidence based learning environment can close the gaps, help them establish skills they need, and help them reach a place in their growth that allows for reintegration with their school community.
Two Roads Academy serves 9-10 students, each with their own Behavior ACTivist. TRA students have not, generally, felt success within the typical classroom environment and are best served with interactive and meaningful instruction that is differentiated and accommodated to best meet their learning needs.
We are seeking a long term substitute, with the potential to turn into a full-time position, beginning in January 2025.
We areseeking a middle/high school math and science teacher to plan and implement curriculum. The curriculum incorporates specific scientific skills and concepts that align with the NGSS standards, while also incorporating the design process with elements of math, technology and engineering.
The ideal candidate has experience in, or a desire, to utilize our outdoor program as a vehicle for delivering hands-on and relevant math and science instruction to our students, incorporating the natural world into students' learning. The science and math teacher will work collaboratively with our Outdoor Program Director on integrating learning experiences.
