For the 2024-25 school year, the Dallastown Area School District seeks a Long-Term Substitute Biology Teacher for our High School (Grades 9-12) who will emulate our dedication to excellence and vision of inspiring and creating pathways for student success!

TIME FRAME & BENEFITS:

Approximately mid-September into early-March with the following benefits:

  • Salary at Bachelor's Step 1, $64,928, prorated for actual days worked

  • 10 Sick Days, prorated for actual days worked

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Valid PA Instructional I or II Teaching Certificate: Science

  • Biology 7-12 (8405)
  • Related teaching experience preferred

  • Willingness to be flexible in terms of teaching assignment within the school setting

  • Completion of all mandated pre-employment documents

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the general supervision of the School Principal...

  • Develops and administers curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.

  • Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.

  • Develops lesson plans and instructional materials for the subject area, and translates lesson plans into learning experiences to develop pertinent sequential assignments, challenge students, and best utilize the available time for instruction.

  • Teaches knowledge and skills and promotes creative thinking and analysis in all related subject areas.

  • Designs learning activities to apply to everyday existence and problem-solving.

  • Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs.

  • Continues to acquire professional knowledge and follows current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research.

  • Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.

  • Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.

  • Ensures that student conduct conforms to the school's standards and school district policies, and establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.

  • Coordinates with other professional staff members, especially within grade level, and participates in faculty meetings and committees.

  • Selects and requisitions appropriate books, instructional aids and other supplies and equipment and maintains inventory records.

  • Follows any other job-related instructions and performs other job-related duties as directed by the Building Principal.
