Position Summary:

Mission of Role/Position Summary

As the Incident Commander (IC) of a mobile vaccine or testing site, you may be responsible for the initial setup or management of an existing site. Initial setup may require establishing process flow or refining an existing process.

Deployment to one of the various postings available in several states where you will assist in the setup and day-to-day operations at COVID-19 testing and vaccination PODs and/or Mobile Units. Daily management of the site includes managing personnel, inventory management, coordinating with supply vendors, maintaining situational awareness and command presence while on-site, problem-solving and troubleshooting, maintaining a safe environment for staff and patients, communicating any issues with AC Disaster and Vendor as they arise.

The Incident Commander will provide general assistance to clients and maintain currency of and compliance with applicable state and federal policies and procedures relating to the public. The ideal candidate will be able to navigate client interactions with professionalism and political savvy, supervise operations, execute and provide necessary guidance for incident response and have a firm understanding and respect for the chain of command.

Position Responsibilities/Role Competencies:

  • Responsible for all tactical operation activities for site management.
  • Assures safety within the operations functions.
  • Request additional resources as-needed.
  • Approve resources within the operational scope.
  • Continuously monitor staffing levels and effectiveness of overall EOC resources.
  • Review resources and provide recommendations for additional needs.
  • Participate in periodic or as-needed briefings with other sites and partners.
  • Develop or revise the operations portion of the incident response plan.
  • Supervise execution of the emergency response operations plan
  • Stay in tune with budgeting and financial statuses as appropriate.
  • Communicate and maintain close contact with agencies and key stakeholders.
  • Brief and assign operations personnel in accordance with the Incident Action Plan
  • Conduct periodic or as-needed briefings to other section chiefs and partners.
  • Ensure timely progress towards meeting goals.
  • Plan and oversee operations for special events/sites.
  • Assists with logistics and driving cargo and supplies.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree.
  • 3-5+ years experience in emergency management.
  • 3 + years of field operations experience; related to incident response.
  • Operations experience with special events.
  • Personnel management/Supervisory.
  • Dual partnership/Client experience.

Required Skills, Education, and Experience:

  • Valid Driver's License and ability to pass a background check.
  • Leadership/Chain of command experience.
  • Strong customer service focus.
  • Flexible/Adaptable.
  • Computer Proficiency with Microsoft Office experience.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Must be willing to travel and deploy to client sites for extended periods of time.
  • Mobility required on-site with clients.
  • Sitting or standing for hours at a time.
  • Ability to work at a computer for long periods of time if needed.
  • Computer Proficient with Microsoft Office Experience.
  • Work environment may not be a typical office setting and can vary.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. repetitively throughout the day and as-needed.
