Company IntroductionTycos Tool and Die, a division of Magna Exteriors Inc., is a tool shop specializing in building medium to large-sized tooling to support Magna Exteriors divisions globally. Our primary focus is injection molds but our specialties also include hydro-form dies, high/low pressure casting, reaction injection molding, injection compression, compression and insert molding. We are currently executing a growth strategy that will have us expanding our capabilities to support tooling initiatives domestically and in Mexico, the UK and China.

Job IntroductionReporting to the Finance dept., Logistics & Trade Compliance Specialist is responsible to develop, maintain, and apply systems and procedures to ensure compliance with export/import laws and regulations. This position acts as a business partner and possesses in-depth working knowledge in several areas of international business trade. He/She fully understands the importance of meticulous documentation, follows up on the periodic and daily tasks listed below, and ensures guidance to internal / external groups.\r

Major Responsibilities Act as a solid resource for all inquiries related to importation / exportation & logistics to internal and external stakeholders.\r

  • Arrange transportation for all inbound / outbound logistics moves with 3PL's\r

o Creates, monitors and modifies daily shipping schedules, in accordance with customer demands and ensures any changes are updated and communicated\r

o Obtains transportation quotes for production and/or non-production shipments\r

o Schedules and organizes carriers for pickups / delivery \r

  • Prepare customs documents for importation / exportation to Canada, USA & Mexico and other countries ensure customs clearance of freight is completed without delays; \r

  • Maintaining classification of Tariff Codes and country of origin\r

  • Responsible for providing regulatory compliance guidance on import/exports\r

  • Monitor regulatory and legislative changes as well as assist with classification of products.\r

  • Assist with NAFTA solicitation, qualification, certification, and record keeping.\r

  • Record Retention (NAFTA, Certificates of Origin, Customs entries, export checks).\r

  • Manage issues relating to proper legal interpretation of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule, Country of Origin designations, Customs Valuations, International Trade Administration's\r

  • Ensure compliance with Canada, U.S.A & Mexico imports regulations with regard to classification, valuation, origin rules, free trade agreements, documentation and record-keeping\r

  • Prepare B13 documentation for shipments, as applicable\r

  • Work closely with and respond to any customs broker requests for information to resolve any issues preventing customs release in a timely manner.\r

  • Audit customs entries filed by broker to ensure compliance.\r

  • Document, monitor and update customs compliance processes as required to meet business needs and to maintain a high level of compliance.\r

  • Maintain and file all documentation associated (electronically) with customs entries, organize and collect the entries files for easy to reference.\r

  • Communicate with cross-functional teams to solve logistics issues which can impact the shipment delivery to customers' expectations. Facilitate resolution of supply chain disruptions.\r

  • Communicate changes to stakeholders related to inbound /outbound processes impacting logistics / customs, and share lesson learn with senior mgmt.\r

  • Assist in developing and maintaining policies procedures and instructions manual to assure compliance with import and export laws, regulations, administrative practices, and supply chain.\r

  • Assist in the development and implementation of compliance procedures ensuring site-level compliance with regulations and corporate policy.\r

  • Assist in preparation of letters, certifications, and other correspondence to customers, vendors, brokers, freight forwarders, and other parties involved in import and export transactions

Knowledge and Education Post-secondary education in Supply Chain Management, Or College degree/diploma or equivalent relevant work experience.\r

  • Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) Designation, Certified Trade Compliance Specialist (CTCS) designation and working experience \r

Work Experience 3-5 years of experience in customs brokerage, import/export business, expediting functions and materials transportation administration required

Skills and Competencies Strong technical proficiency with classification of goods within the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and U.S. customs rules and regulations. Must possess proven ability to apply customs rules and regulations;\r

  • Familiarity with all required customs documentation for both the importation and exportation of goods and knowledge of regulations enforced by other government agencies: \r

  • Knowledge of anti-dumping regulations;\r

  • Proficient knowledge of world geography and import documentation;\r

  • Strong English communication skills (written and spoken)\r

  • Strong PC skills with extensive knowledge of Excel, Outlook\r

  • Project management and problem-solving skills\r

This high profile position will build a program to direct claims-wide regulatory compliance activities for all lines of business and partner with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with applicable state laws and regulations. Provides Senior Management with analysis and recommendations to operationalize compliance goals and monitor compliance risk. Accountable for streamlining processes to manage day to day regulatory support and provides oversight and governance for all claims compliance initiatives. Unit will measure the adherence to regulatory requirements through routine compliance testing. Builds strong relationships with Claims Operations, Corporate Compliance, Internal Audit, and other areas across the Enterprise to monitor and promote regulatory compliance. Responsibilities may include representing the Claims organization to External Auditors and State Regulators. Responsibilities * Management for direct reports to include building a high performing team of technical experts, strategic thinkers, and strong influencers to manage and promote compliance. * Partners with Corporate Compliance and Claims Operations to manage regulatory examinations and facilitates the development and execution of tactical and strategic action plans. * Responsible for partnering with IT and vendors to facilitate claim data governance relating to reporting requirements for: Medicare reporting, EDI reporting, data calls, and other regulatory requirements. * Acts as the subject matter expert for the Claim organization to ensure understanding and compliance with applicable state, federal and other regulatory requirements. Stays ahead of changing obligations, emerging issues, and educates business partners. * Interacts regularly with internal stakeholders such as Claims, Counsel, Corporate Compliance, Internal Audit and other functional areas to ensure Claim operational activities remain in compliance with applicable laws and regulations and meet business goals. * In partnership with Claims Training, designs, develops, and maintains learning objectives to promote compliance. Qualifications Skills * In depth knowledge of the insurance industry, its practices and operations; technical expertise in related regulatory compliance.
